Project Boat – *****PLEASE READ IN FULL BEFORE BUYING*******
37FT narrow boat (6ft 10) all GRP this is a very unusual boat as it has a GRP hull and top with steal struts inside (great to hand single handed as its light than steel so can be pulled in earlier) build around 1975. It has a CRT index number.
The boat is currently out of the water and work can be done in the yard the cost is £15 per week. In Oxfordshire not far from the top of the Thames river ( campsite down the road from the boat if you don’t live close by). The yard has good hard handing so the boat could also be collect with a hiab lorry, paid until the end of the month.
The boat has a V type hull so you can get the boat into the bank than standard flat bottom.
Engine is a Sabb 1 cylinder engine and gear box and was running before it came out of the water so with a service it should start and run. Someone has stolen the propeller off the boat but this can be screws back on as the prop is in place and rudder. The boat has a calorifier in the engine room. Exhaust and alternator in place on the boat.
I believe its Electric or hand start.
The boat has a weed hatch on the back deck with a GRP cover.
I have a hull survey which gives full details of the hull etc and has been valued around £23K when completed.
The hull seems to be in good condition and does not appear to be leaking but will need anti fouling. The hull is 1 inch think information from survey.
The rubbing strips need to be changed but this can easily be done by changing with for new rubber strips (easy job with a drill and some sikaflex sealand)
The boat is a empty shell so it great for you to plan your own design. It still has a shower (2 walls) but could be taken out.
Front and back fenders
Paper work from CRT and old boat safety
As the boat is empty it should be easy to get a boat safety certification as they only look what in place.
The wire are still in the boat so could be reused
A chimney cowling is in place for you to add a multi fuel stove.
The boat as brass vent mushrooms in place.
2 large GRP water tanks at the from of the boat.
The bulk head wall at the front of the boat will need replacing but the doors seem to be ok.
Out side one of the window glass has been broken but this would be easily be replace from a local glass shop under £10
The boat has a lovely side hatch with 2 doors the paint does need a sand and repaint.
message from someone giving history about the boatIn case you are unaware, Your boat was made by Ralph Kirkham, a founder member of Huddersfield Canal Society and leading light in the Calder Navigation Society. He was involved in the early days of glassfibre manufacture and was involved in the manufacture of the well known “bluetops” as fitted to Admiral class narrowboats. He was also involved in the manufacture of the experimental blue containers made for BW narrowbaots. He always carried a keyring made from a plug cut out of the side of the hull. It was about 1 inch thick! Ralph passed away many years ago. Interesting that it still carries its original name.
Would make a great winter project.May SWAP for another boat/ MotorhomeViewing in OxfordDon’t forget this is a project boat! NO DREAMERS! If you press buy it now then you pay for it! Don’t contact me say your child has bought it!!!!!I do have a garage full off stuff to fit this out but this will be at extra cost.
