Lindy Helen is a 32 ft narrow boat, she is built of Mahogony on Oak frame and is fitted with a Lister SR2 Engine. Lindy Helen was built in 1963 as a hire boat for a gentleman called Ted Smout. She was the second of a pair built by Taylors of Chester for his company, Welsh Canal Holiday Craft. The first boat was Barbara Joan. At the height of Mr Smouts ownership of the company there was some 8 boats in the fleet but only Two made by Taylors. The company was based in Llangollen. When Mr Smout retired all the boats were sold off. The Lindy Helen was sold to Holidays Afloat in Market Drayton. They owned her for about five years, she was then sold to the Stevenson’s family who owned her for many years. She had become quite run down by the early 2000’s and the embarked on a full rebuild. The work was carried out by a German carpenter and is very fine indeed. She was shifted to London and sold some time later. She has been through several owners since. And is now in Bradford-on-Avon.My brother and I have recently purchased the Lindy Helen as a project however my brother owns his own building company and we have to much work on our hands to finish her. She could do with a little love and care as the pictures show and a small amount of work to the wiring would be desirable which i am hoping to address before the sale of her. We have a vast amount of paperwork from manuals for the engines to bills and receipts. She has a valid safety certificate until the end of October. Please feel free to contact me for any further info or to arrange a viewing on 07598505220.RegardsMikeThe Lindy Helen is listed elsewhere so may be removed from ebay at any time.
