SUPERB VALUE BOAT SHARE – PERCY VEERE  –  26FT  MICROPLUS  GRP RIVER CANAL CRUISER NARROW BOAT

You are invited to apply for a share in Percy Veere (standard share of three weeks at £600 capital, plus a one-off £50 joining fee).  (£500 for three LOW season weeks would include the joining fee.)  Why not make it a CHRISTMAS PRESENT for you and your partner?

£50 will cover your membership fee.  If, having seen Percy and experienced a trip, you decide not to join after all then your £50 fee will be refunded, less any expenses incurred such as travelling to meet you.  If you join then £600 will be due as an eleventh share of the boat (3 weeks: Low+Mid+High seasons).  This is your capital outlay which will return to you when you sell your share at any time in the future.  (£450 for 3x LOW wks)

Two of our members are leaving us, one to get her own boat and the other to a much larger metal narrow boat share.

We currently have 6 weeks available (6 recently sold out of 12) and would like 2 more members (now we are 7 after the new members).

Each standard share gives the owner 3 weeks use per year in 3 seasons; Low, Mid and High (March to October).  It can be sold at any time of the shareholder’s choosing in the future.  There is one standard share available. The last member to join will pay less for Low weeks.  Next year another member is intending to buy her own boat so three more weeks will become available (M+H+H).  Maintenance, insurance, licence fee and a winter mooring charge are covered by a day usage charge for members.  At the moment this is £7 Low, £8 mid and £9 High season.  We each pay this as a lump sum around December for the following season as the licence, insurance, winter mooring and engine service are all due then.

A copy of the Percy Veere Syndicate agreement will be sent by email or post as soon as you have registered your interest.  This is what you would be buying if you chose to pay the £1 via Ebay.  It cannot be sent by Ebay message service, so I’ll need an address please.  Any £1 payment made via Ebay will be deemed to be for a copy of the agreement which can be sent by post if you prefer that it is not emailed to you, but you may request a copy without paying any fee so that you can read it first before taking the share purchase any further (02380 733045 or email; j underscore reev at yahoo.co.uk  or text my mobile 07413409662).  The AGM will be on Sunday, January 12th in Newbury .

Percy Veere has had several thousands spent on him in the last couple of years, including a new Honda BF10 which runs sweetly at about 1 litre per hour’s boating.  He is insured with GJW Ltd whose only requirement for covering syndicate members is 50 hours boating experience or the completion of a boat handling course.  If you have no experience and are not prepared to take a course PLEASE DO NOT offer for a share.

Anchor and chain for use on tidal rivers in emergency – two modern adult-sized light life jackets

BF10 Honda 4-stroke electric start outboard (key start) (with modern morse control)

15 ltr main petrol container attached to motor + 10 ltr metal and 2 x 5 ltr plastic spare cans

Captain’s chair, morse control, and control panel for headlight, 3 x navigation lights and horn

4 x 110 AmpHr batteries (one starter, three domestic)

Percy has been on the Southern Oxford, Kennet and Avon, Thames and Southern Grand Union for two years.  Next year’s cruising grounds will be decided at the AGM in January but some members already have expressed an interest in considering some midlands canals for future years such as Coventry, Ashby, Leicester Arm of the GU, Stratford, Rivers Avon and Severn, but people are also still keen on the Thames and maybe the Kennet and Avon to Bath/Bristol for 2020.  We have decided to purchase a CRT Gold licence again, covering the Thames and the Nene at Northampton.  The winter mooring for 2019-20 is in Newbury, Berkshire and will be used from November to March. The boat can be used in the winter if required.  To view the boat this winter we will travel to the centre of Newbury (ideal from the A34 and M4)

This membership was created at the end of 2017 to provide several people with affordable holiday weeks afloat.  Percy is a sound, waterproof boat, but at 30 years old he is cheap so should cost no more than £60 per week (i.e. £180 per year) to use, plus fuel of course.  Currently standard share members are being asked for £168 for the whole of 2020.  The boat was sold for £9000 only 6 years ago and he was lifted out and anti-fouled in 2016.  The current members are expecting to repaint the hull and anti-foul the immersed part again next spring.  The capital should be a sound investment with little or no depreciation as the usage charges will keep the boat shipshape over the years to come.  The boat is currently valued at £6600, being 11 x ‘3 week’ shares at £600 each.
