Hedgehog is a super homey 36 foot (7 ft wide) steel and wood narrowboat that has served as both a full-time home and city getaway. Built in 1976 by Peter Nicholls, it has a galley kitchen with full-size cooker, living space with flat-screen TV/DVD and wood-burning stove, bathroom with walk-in shower heated by a combi boiler, and a back room that could be used as an office or bedroom. The boat has a rich teak and tiled interior and solar panels for when cruising or off the grid. The boat comes with a mooring at the New Islington Marina in the up and coming Northern Quarter/Ancoats section of Manchester City Centre, subject to permission from BWML. The boat is fitted with a functional BMC 1.5 diesel engine.It has a steel hull (last blacked in 2017) and wooden cabin divided into four rooms/spaces, plus the engine room.The back room has a bunk for one, and a fold out bed for two. The couch in the living space also folds out into a bed for two. The boat is fitted with a 2000W inverter, 2 leisure batteries (purchased 2018) and a battery charger, 2 solar panels (installed 2017), and a petrol generator (never used). A combi boiler heats water for the faucets and shower. The kitchen has a full-size gas cooker and oven, refrigerator and a fair amount of cabinet space.
