Dawncraft 25ft River Cruiser
A lovely example of the extended version of this popular river cruiser.
The Dawncraft 27 has the same interior as the more common Dawncraft 25, but
with an extended rear deck.
The engine is a 15hp outboard, which is very smooth and quiet, starts
from a pull start or via a key (starter battery needs replacing). the boat is
very nippy, and manoeuvrable, it turns pretty much anywhere!!
The boat doesn’t currently have a BSS, it will require a gas locker or
cage being fitted, changing the cooker gas joint from a soldered joint to
compression and a new flue for the wood fired stove (or removal). I was
planning on removing the gas and the stove and using a low powered induction
hob and diesel heater. All the fittings fro a diesel heater are already in
place, so dropping one is a straight forward job.
The exterior is in reasonable condition, with a good canopy, fibreglass and
paintwork. As winter is setting in, it is getting to the stage where it needs a
bit of a clean, but it’s not too bad generally very presentable. The rear deck
has recently upholstered cushions. It has a solar panel on the roof, this does
however have cracked glass so could do with being replaced. The front screen
also has a crack (see pics) I have been using tarp to cover it, but it can be
replaced fairly easily.
Inside looks great, it has been recently painted. The front seats and
table convert into a large bed, all foam is in good condition, but would
benefit from being re-covered. There is a 2 burner gas hob and manual pumped
tap for the sink. There is a separate room for a toilet.
I planned on using this boat to provide as an extension of my other
boat, but my plans have changed, and I am moving off the water.
In general, it’s a well looked after boat, that with a few small jobs
would make a lovely day boat or liveaboard.
