The boat is in Loddon, Suffolk, not London…..I HAVE ADDED A SKETCH OF THE APPROXIMATE LAYOUT AS WE HAD WANTED TO FIT THE INSIDE.It is with regret that I have decided to sell my houseboat. It was a joint project with my wife with the intention to retire and live on it. But my wife died and I no longer have the energy. I am a wooden boat builder and I built the houseboat, following plans of “the lady of the lake” by the American designer J Atkins & Co (see black and white photo of The lady of the Lake) , but using modern materials: marine ply, West Epoxy resins and glass fibre. Also used plans for houseboat Brandy Wine, photos of which can be found online. The hull is 10.50 Metres (35ft) by 3 metres (10ft) wide; monocoque construction and the entire boat is sheathed in West Epoxy resin and glass fibre cloth. I estimate that the boat is 85% “finished” (boats are never really entirely finished) The hull is 1 1/2″ (approx 40mm thick) 2 layers of 3/4″ marine ply bonded and screwed together using stainless steel screws. Cabins sides are 9mm marine ply and roofs are 2 layers of 9 mm ply. Again all sheathed in West Epoxy and glass cloth. The whole houseboat, both hull and cabin is insulated, 100 mm thick for hull and roofs and 75mm for sides. All the windows are tempered glass, except the two large opening windows in large cabin which are polycarbonate. The wheelhouse has two round opening portholes. Both rear and front doors are in situ and secured. The main cabin is fully paneled with wood ling and painted with three coats of paint. The wheelhouse in about 90% panelled. The forward area which is intended to be The “bathroom/toilet” area is partly panelled and painted and some insulation is still to be installed (insulation for this is on board) This was built as a flat water houseboat, intended to be an economical “live_on_board” home for a couple, in as self sufficient way as can be on inland waters. i’m obviously happy for serious, potential buyers to see the boat prior to deciding whether they are interested in making an offer. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have. I’m open to reasonable offers… I am advertising elsewhere and reserve the right to withdraw.Contact to arrange viewing: firstname.lastname@example.orgThe boat is listed for 10 days.
