My Norman cruiser and me have been all over the Midlands in the last 3 years This is now a boat with issues – the least of which is that it is presently tied up at Cromwell lock on the River Trent where I had to leave it as the outboard developed a fault. The outboard is old – not sure of the year – maybe 80s? when I pulled up to Cromwell, on the tidal side, it gave out on me (fortunately with enough time for me to jump off and get the rope to the bank) I had been pushing it a bit to get to the lock before the lock keeper went home – and had timed it wrong so was pushing against the tide for the last hour. Have changed the petrol, cleaned the plugs, cleaned the carb, changed the coils, had the compression checked and told it is good in both cylinders. Symptoms are that it starts and runs goes into gear but when put under any load it cuts out! The engine is in my garage and included in the sale  – I wouldn’t suggest trying to move on the Trent as it is – you’ll be going against the flow and may end up going backwards. It had a recon gear box and new controller and cables mid-2020. When I had the controller fitted, I daubed it with paint to deter anyone from nicking it  – I hadn’t planned to change the boat  The boat is tatty. See the photos. Headlights have been used by simply attaching to a free standing 12v battery at the front. –  rodents last winter – need rewiring really. Also as the boat is out of alignment with ballast, the bilge pumps from the bow and I use a low profile pump attached to the same battery and hose out of the window. The bilge is pumped as there is now canopy and the ‘pond lining’ is have on the back still allows rain water in as I have never fitted it properly. It’s not been a problem as when it doesn’t rain the bilge is dry, and I am back on the boat at least every two weeks. I was half way through replacing the cladding under the bow/bed but making a pigs ear of it so have stopped! The outside needs painting – and getting dirtier by the day where it is I had cut holes in the cat walk to allow drainage of the rain water – with the intention of fibre-glassing over…. In short, when I was keeping the boat, none of these cosmetic things mattered that much to meMy plan has evolved  – I am now picking up a new boat today from Preston Brook and heading to Cromwell – if this one does not sell this week – i shall head to it and haul it back to more stable waters – tidy it up, repair/replace the outboard and re-sell.As I will be traveling this week, I won’t be free to show you the boat but will answer questions BSC to mid-2024PLEASE BE AWARE: you are bidding for the boat, as it is, where it is
