15 foot River, canal or lake boat
Unsure to which or if designed
for both either way I’m sure it’s not for the sea.
Only ever had it in the lakes
for the last few summers
boat isn’t built by a proper
trade/boating company, it was refurbished as a hobby to get out on
the water each summer and has been more of a learning curve to using
materials
Engine is a Suzuki DT30 with
manual pull start and with 12v starter motor wired to the front of
engine and also at boat steering wheel for easy starting. complete
with 2 small light back up emergency return to home engines, one with
pull start and re coil, and a seagull one that you rap a rope around
and pull . All engines run but at some point iv’e bought a new fuel
tank tap for one of the smaller engines so I’m guessing that needs
changing,, one of the smaller engines may need new HT lead as I think
one was loose where it plugs on to the spark plug even though it
still runs ok. No idea on either bhp for these extra 2 engines going
to guess between 8-15 each.
The engine that sits on the
front of the trailer was bought after the boat and trailer, and as I
have a sports car I have no where for the engine (like a jeep, van or
people carrier) so I got someone to add a simple cage over night to
get use to the lakes for its first time, although I’ve been using
it since I’d recommend it to either be strengthened or not to be
used as it was only meant for a quick temporary solution as it
doesn’t look strong enough for this twin cylinder engine. Even when
I use it I fit a ratchet strap over the engine and frame as extra
support just in case it brakes off.
The engines output shaft is long
in comparison to the boat (i think its called the out put shaft?
basicaly i mean the boxsection or leg that sits between the engine
and the output proppeler) I’ve always wanted a smaller shaft for
it until someone told me this year i’d be worse off as the longer
shaft helps keep either the nose? or the back? of the boat in the
water under full power or something to do with going throw choppy
wave water, I can’t remember what he said a part from to stick with
the long shaft.. Even with the long shaft the boat still manages to
get right up into Shaw as engine flips up and is held there on a pull
out lock pin.
In the photo it shows the flat
bottom boat manages to get right up into the Shaw line as shallow as
my flip flops, perfect for not getting wet.
Boat has
2x bail pumps that use inbuilt
automatic float switch sensors
12v internal front and rear
lights, decking lights, roof lights, radio, and 230v plug socket
(small inverter)
The 10” wheels that were on it
have been removed and it’s now got mini alloys on with a spare.(all
3 mini alloys have been machined out to fit, it won’t take other
alloys unless you also have them machined due to the trail hubs
beaing so wide)
Its had new hubs and bearings 2
years ago that would of covered 240 miles now, that have only been
submerge in lake water, (when launching) and not sea water
it’s had new windows and still
needs the infill seal putting back in (they push into the main seal
to pad it out, I think it makes the seal lock in better, not that its
ever lost a window down the motorway each time it’s been out
(120miles round trip each year), mentioning motaway the burgundy
cover seam’s has come away down one side , from memory it needs
stitching with thick white thread again, unstiched thread is about a
meter long.
Inside is just basically
carpeted with wood panel dress wall cladding, there’s no kitchen or
cupboards, there’s some little doors under the back seat for the
new Ankor and 20-30meeters of new yoat rope, car battery with quick
release caravan connections, also if the engine is running it
charges the battery.
There will be little niggly jobs
for example one that i can rember is the caravan door shuts but its
catching on a screw head I think, and needs its hinges nipping up
There has been some reapolstered
seats from a friends mam that still need finishing and fitting, 2 x
swivel seats that also rise and fall with a matching back lift out/
tilt forward bench seat to accommodate the engine tilting up for
launching. (Seats have never been finished, we just used alternative
hi chair stools.
there are 2 videos of the engine running. one vedio should load automatically and the other one you will have to copy and paste this link into google
