For sale Westerly 22 Yacht ‘Amitie’. Length – 22.25 ft / 6.75 mBeam – 7.5 ft / 2.3 mDraft – 2.25 ft / 0.69 mHull type – Bilge keelDate of construction – 1964These early Westerly yachts were constructed when fiberglass was a relatively new material and as such were built much thicker than needed resulting in an extremely tough boat that, although nearly 60 years old, is completely watertight and showing no signs of osmosis at all. A very well made little boat with lots of space inside due to it not having gunnels, making the cabin feel much wider. Bought as a mini home to cruise on the canals and rivers she has a shallow draft and a mast that can be easily lowered or raised with a gunter rig as was standard for these boats. There are a number of sails with the boat including two foresails, mainsail and a spinniker. She would need some work to make her ready to sail again as she has been used mainly on the canals in recent years. The mast would need varnishing and most of the running rigging would need replacing but the standing rigging is in good condition.Below deck there are 4 berths, two single quarter berths and a v-berth in the bow that can be converted to a double. The boat has lots of storage space under the berths. Mid ships there is a two ring gas cooker with grill and oven to port and a sink with plenty of storage to starboard. There is also a small wood burning stove that has been fitted to make her warm and cozy during winter. On the aft deck there are two lockers for storage one has been fitted to hold a gas bottle and has a bubble tester and is vented to comply with safety requirements. The other locker has room for a leisure battery. The boat is powered by a Mariner 5 hp four stroke that runs really well and has had a recent service including new spark plug and fuel lines. It pushes the boat along nicely and is a very quiet and economical motor. There are a lot of extras with the boat including an array of tools and other items including mooring pins and windlass for the canals. There is some work needed to bring her up to date mainly a coat of paint to the interior as the paint is getting a bit scruffy. Externally she could also use a paint to bring her back to her best though it is only cosmetic really. There is a new can of hempels deck paint ready to go. Also there is a small strip of wood missing on her port side that needs replacing. In general the wood is in good condition for its age but would benefit from some oil or varnish. I have tried to describe her as honestly as possible. She would make a great boat for someone who is happy with the simple life or a starter boat for someone new to boating. There is no BSC with the boat. There are extensive records that show the work done to date and also details of how to rig the gunter setup for sailing. All in all she needs some minor cosmetic work but would make a great little project for someone who wants to make her sail again or as a small home for the canals and waterways for which she is good to go! Currently moored on the river Lee in north London. She is advertised elsewhere so the listing may be removed from ebay at any time. After a quick sale so offers on the asking price may be considered. Cash on collection prefered. If you have any questions please dont hesitate to contact me. Cheers!
