Built at Petters Yard on the island of Haslo in
Sweden in 1937/8 as a fishing vessel.
Based
on the the hull of a sailing boat but fitted from new with a semidiesel engine.
She has oak planking on oak frames and has been professionally
converted to sail. The ship has a large deckhouse which easily seats 8 and
below decks has been partly converted to provide accommodation for up to 12
persons.
Many thousands of pounds in
repair and improvements over the last 12 years, including a full suit of sails
which have been dry stored for 10 years, new rigging, replacing the prop shaft
and propeller, replacing frames and planking and developing the accommodation.
She has been regularly slipped and maintenance carried out on a rolling basis.
She has a classic Gardner 5L3 Marine Engine
driving a 42 inch prop and a large inventory including 3 anchors with 150m of
galvanised chain, a 5kw inverter, Victron 80Amp battery charger, spare
alternator, many engine spares and a lot of timber. She has Radar, echo sounder
and VHF radio. Superb liveaboard.
Accommodation:
Above deck- A large wheel/deckhouse with seating for 8-10 around a drop leaf
table. It also houses the inside helm position and a large chart table.
Below Deck- The accommodation is divided by solid bulkheads into cabins.

Svanskar has a recently issued Boat Safety
Certificate.
She is currently berthed at Pooles Wharf,
Bristol.
Any future berth would be subject to
discussion with the harbour master.
