Classic sailing yacht `Anatilda for sale18ft wooden Itchen Ferry BoatGaff Cutter RiggedUnfortunately I have been convinced to sell my beloved wooden yacht Anatilda. She is only 18ft long but with the heart, and the sail area of a much bigger boat. She weighs about 4 ton and has an external lead keel of about 2 ton which makes her a safe and pleasurable boat to sail in most conditions. She has a wooden Gaff rig and wooden bowsprit with a full suit of sails, most of which are almost new. She has a top yard and topsail for flying in light winds and when racing. She has a cosy cabin for two people to stay overnight and plenty of anchor chain for a stay in a secluded anchorage. We bought Anatilda a few years ago from Rye where she was reported to be the oldest boat afloat. She was brought back to Portsmouth harbour, a few miles from where she would have been built at Itchen Ferry Village. We undertook extensive works to her hull, including steam bending new oak ribs which were sistered up where needed and fixed with traditional copper nails and roves and hand finished. She received a primer coat and two full coats of black antifoul before launching. She also received two coats of Pre-kote and two of toplac to her topsides. As it is with all wooden boats of any age, she is a work in progress where there will always be jobs to do.She needs a new head gasket fitting to her 2 cylinder diesel inboard engine (head is stripped off ready for replacement) as we never got round to finishing it. We have towed her in and out of her mooring with a small dinghy when sailing. she could of course be fiited with a small outboard. She also recently received some minor damage to her portside during high winds as in the pictures. There is some damage to her rubbing strake and top plank as well as her two bronze chainplates (we have sourced these and are readily available for about £50 each). All of these things are an easy fix for the right person (I am a carpenter)She currently lies in Portsmouth harbour, on her walk ashore pontoon mooring where she happily sits in the soft mud twice a day (super conditions for a wooden boat)The pontoon has electricity and the boat yard offers all the facilities and services at some of the best rates in the Solent. The fees are currently £100 per month for the mooring and can be transferred if agreed with the boat yard. The only reason for selling my beloved boat is because we have moved too far away to be able to look after her and use her regularly. She now needs to be scrubbed and antifouled ready for the winter season all of which the boat yard can take care of. she can also be lifted ashore for any other works should they ever be required. Please come and take a look before bidding, she is a wooden boat, well over a hundred years old and will require constant maintenance so please don`t bid if you can`t commit to this.Feel free to message any queries which I will try to answer asap. These beautiful old boats are getting rarer and can be worth considerable money once up together, there is currently one available for £15995 elsewhere. We have started this auction with a low start price and NO RESERVE to encourage the right person to be able to carry out any necessary works as stated above. As always, you bid to buy, please don`t bid if you are going to change your mind.A deposit of £50 is to paid through paypal at the end of auction with the balance by bank transfer upon collection. Many Thanks, fair winds.
