15’9” Hand built wooden boat on a beautiful Dartmouth Mooring: £1,600 or £3,300. With Tohatsu 20 HP outboardTohatsu 4 stroke petrol engine alone £2,000.There is also a very little used ‘Mariner 4’ four stroke engine available if you prefer a smaller engine £450.
Options available to split or include one of the outboards and or mooring. I am selling this boat (too cheaply really) because I want a quick sale so I can focus on my sailing boat.
This boat is constructed of Oak, Cherry, Meranti (A Philippine mahogany) and Pine. The beauty of its natural materials rugged appearance and versatility on the water delights users and admirers.
Designed in the classic American ‘skiff’ style, this boat offers both inshore fishing use in local bays etc and delightful river cruising. With seating for 4-6 people, it’s perfect for family outings or angling trips with friends.
Need more deck space for your fishing gear or other gear? The seats are easily removed, allowing for quick customization based on your needs.
Safety is the priority, and this boat is equipped with an excellent bilge pump system: There are two ‘Whale Gusher Urchin’ manual bilge pumps, capable of pumping up to 55 litres per minute (you’ll have peace of mind).
In previous years I have trailered this boat and used it in North and south Devon. This year I managed to get this mooring now being offered with the boat. To make the boat ready for being left unattended on a mooring (I live in Gloucestershire), an additional automatic ‘Sahara Attwood 4507’ bilge pump & solar system was also professionally fitted by a marine electrician this spring. It is powered by a 12volt marine battery which is topped up by the solar system. This set up allows it to automatically pump out water if you leave the boat unattended for long periods.
Like most wooden boats left on a mooring, she ‘sips’ a little bit. When I have left the boat unused I have found it takes on about a bucket and a half of water a week I don’t even use the pumps to remove it (my sponge gets that up in no time).
New additions this year include a good quality, tailor made, button-down waterproof cover to protect the boat from rainwater. Cost was £840.
A good mooring location adds real value & increases opportunities for a variety of uses, and this boat comes with its own swinging mooring. The mooring is accessible by the Dartmouth Water taxi (or by tender). The boat itself draws very little water so it is great for accessing shallow areas that other boats cannot reach.I am selling this boat because I have always been a sailor and have wanted a sailing boat on a Dart river mooring for years. The area is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. I managed to buy a sailing boat with a Dart mooring in May this year.
Extras: There is an excellent fish finder (Garmin Striker Plus 4CV) which also tells you the depth of water that you are in, shows you the fish that are under the boat & their depth.
The mooring is just minutes away from Dartmouth town quay by water taxi so getting to and from the boat is easy. Alternatively you could use an inflatable dinghy.
Dart moorings are highly desired in short supply and at a premium here. This mooring is a bargain. I have been able to get on & off the mooring by water taxi in all states of tide here. Cost P.A. £470.40. It runs for the year April 2023-2024 making this offer a steal. Many people have to wait for several years to get a mooring for their boat on the Dart. This feels like jumping the queue!
Out board motor options:
If you’re looking for engine options, they are available. The reliable fuel injected electric start Tohatsu 20hp EFI 4-stroke outboard shown, is available for purchase separately or with the boat. The engine was new in June 2020 with only about 30 hours of use and still in the running-in stage, this engine promises reliable, efficient and powerful performance on the water for many years to come.
What are the buying options?
· Bare boat without engine, but including fishfinder, trailer and mooring paid for until April 2024 = £1,600.
· Boat with the Tohatsu 20 HP EFI engine, along with the trailer and mooring paid for until April 2024 = £3,300. . Tohatsu 20 HP Electric start EFI engine alone = £2,000. Mariner 4 HP sail drive outboard. I bought this new in 2010 for £854. It has had very little use. Perhaps 40-50 hours. . I have receipts for both engines & recent tailor made boat cover seen in the pics.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to own a versatile and well-equipped wooden boat in a stunning location.
