Instaboat 11′ Folding Aluminium Boat, Fishing, Family Boating, Camping, Row, Motor Or Paddle.
A most practical, high quality Canadian made, fully folding aluminium boat. Assembly requires the use of NO TOOLS at all, as the boat simply unfolds, clip in the seats and central spreader bar and slot on the aluminium outboard motor transom cover plate and that’s it; there are no fiddly time consuming components to assemble as there are with other folding boats.
Approx. dimensions of the unfolded boat are: Length: 11′, beam: 4’5″, depth: 14″, weight 55 lbs.
Approx. dimensions of the folded boat are: length: 11′, width: 14″, thickness: 10″, and it looks like a thicker surf or windsurfing board basically.
Constructed from excellent quality sheet aluminium, with thick hard wearing vulcanized neoprene rubber joints, the boat has had very little use, and consequently is in super condition, as can be seen in the photos. The outfit has had freshwater use only on the River Thames, and was always carefully put away and stored inside the garage after each use.
The boat can be rowed with the jointed aluminium oars, paddled canoe style with a single paddle or motored with an outboard engine, there are some about with a sail kit fitted for sailing, and you can fit a simple sailing kit from a small dingy like a Mirror, which are readily and cheaply available second hand. A 1 hp outboard is adequate for the craft, and a 2 hp outboard more than enough power, for two adults with lots of fishing and camping gear aboard. As a rowing boat it rows easily and tracks nicely in the water, as a open motor boat it’s perfect for exploring waterways and backwater channels, inaccessible to larger craft. Easy to handle on land and in the water.
To assemble the boat: simply unfold the boat, insert and clip in the two folded seats and central spreader bar, push on the outboard transom aluminium cover, and you’re water ready in around 2 minutes, if it’s taking you longer that this, you’re doing something wrong; watch the Instaboat videos on You Tube and you’ll see what I mean.
Much quicker to assemble and put away than the equivalent sized inflatable, and does not need to be dry before folding away like an inflatable boat, and there’s no fear of puncturing it on riverbanks, in locks or with fishing hooks and so on. The thick, black, closed cell foam panels fitted along the boat sides provide not only safety floatation, but equally excellent fendering and protection from rough surfaces.
For sale at a very attractive price compared to the new retail price which was around £1200.00 recently, made for many years but now longer manufactured, so hard to find in the UK anyway, and very much so in this condition.
A superb, simple, practical, well made, easy to use packaway boat, which can be launched anywhere you can launch a canoe or kayak, needs no trailer, as it can be transported on a roof rack or in an estate car as I did, and costs virtually nothing to run.
The boat is modified with:
1). A removable, quality ply bow deck to store the anchor and warp in place.
2). A removable central thwart in quality ply, to allow more varied seating positions, and this acts as a picnic table or fishing preparation area, and has a large gear storage net below to stow items out of the way. Both the ply modifications simply slot into place into channels on the boat, and if required can also be laced up with the fitted short pieces of rope for a taut fit if needed.
The boat may be used without these modifications.
Built to be used for fishing, hunting and general recreation in the Canadian wilderness, so it’s strong but lightweight and easy to handle. A durable, tough craft, maintenance free, stable to use and comfortable, as the seats have neoprene seat pads fitted on them, and the boat is uncluttered with lots of useable space for picnics and fishing gear, as well as having clever, discrete storage areas under the seats, to keep items such as lifejackets and the like, out of sight whilst the vessel is unattended.
Excellent to use after work or at the weekend, as it’s about the most hassle free boating you can have, whilst using a very versatile proper boat, compared to a kayak or canoe, and costs next to nothing to run and maintain.
A very practical, well looked and useable craft, extremely well priced as now no longer used.
In a very clean, well looked after and tidy condition, ready for immediate use.
