I am selling my Orkney Dory 424 sport boat. It has a Yamaha 40 hp auto lube, electric start, power trim engine, the seating cushions are in lovely condition and recently new, it has an auxiliary outboard motor bracket, also an automatic / manual bilge pump, fuel tanks, anchor and chain, mooring warps, paddle, trailer straps and engine rev counter It also has a solar panel which keeps the battery charged if left on a mooring.I have owned the boat for several years, during the summer it has been on a mooring in Kingsbridge Devon, and has been reliable and totally trouble free. During the winter it is stored in an enclosed building.
Every winter the hull is repainted with antifoul paint and has been done ready for this summer. The engine is serviced every winter, gear box oil is changed and new spark plugs are fitted. If necessary the water pump impeller is replaced in fact it was replaced last autumn. I am a fastidious owner and leave nothing to chance.
This Orkney Dory is unsinkable, as it has a double hull construction and is designed to be amazingly buoyant when loaded. I have had eight family members and friends in it at one time with no problem.
The engine is very powerful and powers the boat surprisingly fast, and will easily pull a skier or wake boarder.THE BOATOrkney Dory 425 a timeless classic. It has an exceptionally strong GRP hull. Its dimensions are… Length 14′ Beam 5’11”, it has a double hull and with foam filling between the hulls it’s unsinkable. Many of these boats are used as work boats and harbour masters are often seen using them. The Salcombe harbour authority have several of them.
An advert for these boats shows a pack of house bricks in one being taken across open water to a Scottish island!THE ENGINE The Yamaha 40 hp 3 cylinder electric start outboard engine is one of the best selling engines ever made, Yamaha being the market leader for decades.
This engine has Auto lube an oil reservoir under the cowl is filled with two stroke oil and a metering device automatically mixes oil to the petrol at the correct ratio before it enters the combustion chambers, it saves the owner the job of mixing oil with the petrol.
It also has hydraulic power tilt allowing the engine to be raised or lowered from or into the water .
The engine starts and runs well, is reliable and has been regularly serviced. THE TRAILER The trailer is believed to be made by Bramber, a well known trailer manufacturer. It has had new wheel bearings, tyres and mud guards and winch replaced recently and repainted in the last few months.
It tows very well with no sign of snaking, even at high speed. ACCESSORIES It has an automatic / manual bilge pump, anchor and chain, mooring warps, fuel tanks, battery, paddle,spare trailer wheel and some other boat related items. It comes complete, just as we used it last summer. It also has a solar panel that keeps the battery charged when on a mooring.
