Hi – this is a listing for my Shetland 535 motor cruiser/fishing boat. Shetland boats have a great reputation and can be used on both in- and offshore as family cruisers or fishing boats. I bought the boat last year with high hopes of getting it refurbished over winter, ready for putting in the water in the spring – sadly my personal situation has changed and I regrettably won’t have the opportunity to get it all sorted. The previous owner was an amazing 80 year-old who had owned it for many years, keeping it on the Norfolk Broads and also using it for sea fishing. A big part of me choosing this boat was the engine – it’s an awesome 40hp Mercury 4-stroke Efi, with electric start/trim and tilt. It started after a couple of turns of the key, despite having been left for a good few months and pumped a cracking stream of water. The previous owner paid over £1750 for this engine 2nd hand. A marine battery and fuel tank are included. To get the boat back on the water, it needs some paint, the windows refitting, a trailer winch and other little jobs. The previous owner made a start on the underneath and I made a start on the windows – I removed 3 and started to clean up, sand and prime the surrounding areas. I’ve also sanded down part of the upper deck and top of the cabin. The cabin interior needs cosmetic work – a good lick of paint, the ceiling could do with a board fitting around the hatch and some new cushions – the current ones are old, damp and poorly hand-made. There are 2 storage lockers and stereo speakers fitted. There’s a marine radio, fire extinguisher and an internal light, but I haven’t attempted to connect these to a battery, so can’t comment on whether they work or not; the same for the exterior navigation lights. There’s a compass on top and I’ve also got a fish-finder – again, haven’t tested this. It may be that the wiring needs attention, but this would be a very simple job. Extras include a canopy (shown laid out in the photo), which looks to be in really good condition – there’s a new one of these listed on eBay for £350. Other equipment includes various anchors, a rusty canal lock windlass, warps/ropes, a rod-holder, a heavy-duty steel propeller guard, old life jackets, various fenders, a buoy, 2 spare windows, window rubbers (mostly those I removed when I took the windows out) and a nearly-full tin of grey primer. There’s also a removable fibreglass rear seat, which I believe fits along the back of the rear deck. The trailer is unbraked. It needs a winch fitting – I removed the old one as the strap had broken. I bought a brand new replacement but the bolt holes don’t line up with the frame and I never got around to sending it back. Both old and new winches are included – the strap could be taken off the new winch and put on the old one for a simple fix. Currently can’t find the fixing bolts, but these would be easy to replace. There’s a spare wheel that needs a new tyre and the bearings look like they’ve had some grease not too long ago. I can’t comment on the road worthiness of the trailer, so the new owner will have to decide whether to trust it or not – it made the journey of nearly 70 miles to where I live last year without issue. All-in-all, a bit of a project, but I don’t think anything major needs doing. Please remember that I haven’t used the boat on the water, but the previous owner assured me it was great and the engine pushed it along brilliantly. No silly offers. In decent condition, these boats go for several thousand pounds and I reckon the engine and the canopy alone would be worth around £2000.The boat is located near Brough, just north of the Humber and approximately 20 mins drive from the bridge. Please contact me to ask any questions or to arrange a viewing. I’m looking for a quick, no-hassle sale. Cash or instant bank transfer please. Buyer must collect – no delivery. Sold as seen – no returns. Many thanks for looking!
