Hi, my boat is up for sale due to an unfortunate change in circumstances. I will get pictures of the engine and deck and add them over the next day or so.
The boat is a Souter 25. Pirate boats now own the mould and make 21 & 25 foot versions I think. This is a very strong and well built boat with great sea keeping abilities, I have owned for around 5 years and have done a load of work in that time. Its very fast at 30+ knots.
Boat is in good condition for the age (mid 90’s), new window seals, deck has been professionally renewed a couple of winters back. New engine cover. Could do with some grey deck paint applied on wheelhouse floor and around wheelhouse footsteps to tidy it up, I have the paint. Stainless steel fittings throughout with an electric capstan but I have never tried to use it. Sealed decks with scuppers. Bilge pump, usual gear I guess. Comes with VHF and some electronics. New batteries and isolator selector. Hydraulic steering. Nav lights. Gas hob. Anchor. etc.
Wheelhouse is a nice height as you step down from the deck. I’m 6ft and its perfect.
I changed out the engine this winter for a 2011/2012 Volvo Penta D3 220A-F with DPS duoprop drive with stainless props. I bought the engine from Volvo, it had only done around 405 hours but the timing belt had failed. I gave the engine to an engineer shop for an overhaul; reconditioned turbo, new big ends, con rods, etc. My mistake was not having the valve guides done and they are weeping (we think). The boat starts first turn (a little smoke which quickly clears) with perfect oil pressure and runs perfect but as it heats up the oil pressure settles lower than the book states. You can run at 5/6 throttle or so all day without issue but if you run at full throttle for a while the low oil pressure alarm comes in. The engineer shop suggests it’ll probably be the valve guides but unfortunately I don’t have time to work/investigate it so this will need to be looked at by the new owner. Could be something more simple but I really don’t know.
I removed the trim tabs as I didn’t think these were required but I haven’t really tested the boat without them to see how it goes. They were just bolted to the stainless plate on the transom.
No trailer but more than happy to arrange nationwide delivery at your cost. The boat will be delivered to Aberdeen. Weighs around 2.5 ton.
Boat needs very little tidy up and engine requires the oil pressure issue addressed so please bear this in mind.
