welcome to the auction for my Yamaha XL800.
This ski has been in the family for the last 13 years. It was made in 2001 and was sold new to a
chap in Staffordshire. He owned it for
about 6 years and sold it to my father in law in 2007. My father in law sold it to me about 3 years
ago after upgrading to a new ski. This
ski has been loved by all who have owned her.
It has been part of many great beach days and evenings out and around Teignmouth
/ Torbay. The ski is older and as a result,
does have a fair amount of hours on the clock.
However, she is a 2 stroke which are reliable and are easy to repair. She
still goes well and is a safe and sturdy ski for up to 3 people at a time. Prior to this ski, I had faster smaller Skis,
but none felt sturdy enough to use with my two children or could tow as
well. In the summer we tow an inflatable
ring and use a knee board.
The ski is a
2 cylinder – 2 stroke petrol with Auto lube oil injection. I always use super unleaded fuel with suitable
2 stroke oil as per recommendations.
3 months after
purchasing the ski from my father in law, the ski had its first real issue
(sods law). I started it up in Paignton
harbour and it ran very lumpy. We took
the ski home and carried out a compression test and found that there was low
compression on one cylinder. We stripped
the engine down the following day, and it turned out that it had thrown a piston
ring. This had damaged the top of the
piston head. So, a new set of piston
rings and new piston were ordered. The
head was sent off to be skimmed and re-bored.
Once received, we put her back together, ran her in and she was as good
as new. Since then, there have been no
further problems and the ski starts and runs sweet. – I do
not have receipts to prove this as my father in law paid for the bits but I can
promise that it was done.
The ski has brand
new 10-inch wheels fitted to the trailer, the bearings were checked and lubricated,
a new battery was also purchased last year as the other one became a bit
tired. A new set of spark plugs are
fitted each year and the ski is always winterised with a cap of oil down each barrel
to ensure it is nicely lubricated for the summer start. Prior to my purchase, a
new prop had also been fitted and a ride grate.
I still have
the original Yamaha booklet and Data tag information as shown in the photos
which came with the ski when it was brand new.
So, why am I
selling? My kids are older and so am
I. So, I am going to purchase a boat. Maybe not his year but possibly next year.
I am an honest
seller, selling an honest ski. I do not
want to swap the ski and am in no rush to sell it. I think the buy it now price reflects good
value for money, based on the condition of the ski and the fact the ski is a
safe and sturdy one. It does have a few
scuffs and marks which is to be expected for its age.
I have sold
numerous cars, skis, boats through ebay, all without issue. I welcome any inspection. I am not willing to take it out on the water
due to insurance purposes. (I have nothing to hide). I will happily run it up
on a hose to show it running on the driveway. It is very easy to socially
distance on my driveway and I am happy to show you around it from a safe
distance for yours and my safety as per government guidelines.
The ski is
in Newton Abbot, Devon. Buyer is to
collect please. The ski is sold as seen
with no returns. A bank transfer is
required upon collection of the Ski and funds must be clear before the ski
leaves the driveway.
Also, I hate
to have to say this but, I will report any scammers and will not tolerate time
wasters. Time is precious.
please feel free to message me.
