A renovated and well-insulated Wilderness boat. Bowderbeck is a ‘Water Rat Gypsy’ narrowboat offering full headroom. Her minimal draft means she can explore some canals that larger narrowboats cannot. Her length keeps mooring fees lower and she can also be towed on a trailer.

The Boat Safety
Scheme certificate expired in June 2018. This was not renewed because there’s no need for a licence where she’s currently moored in Falmouth. (There are no inland waterways in Cornwall).
Bowderbeck can travel by road on a trailer or transporter. When I bought her, she was moored on the River Thames in Berkshire. The cost of lifting her out of the water, the road transporter, and lifting her back into the water at Falmouth was a little over £1,000.
Reason for selling: I have lived on Bowderbeck full-time for the last three years. I have just purchased a cottage and moved back onto land. It’s been wonderful to live so close to nature and I will miss boat-life a lot. Sadly, I cannot keep her. Nor am I in a position to do any remedial works or maintenance, which the price reflects. Please note the following:
1. I have not driven the boat since purchase 3 years ago. This is for no other reason than lack of courage!! The engine has not been started but that is not to say that it can’t be (I do not know).
2. There is a small leak in the pipe under the galley sink that needs a permanent repair. Some water is in the bilge because of it and can be extracted.
3. The toilet has not been used because I have used marina facilities, instead. The system may require a service.
4. The inverter needs repairing or replacement if you want to use it. For the last 2 years, I have used a battery charger (included) to charge the batteries from shore power. This was fitted by a marine electrician and works completely fine. You would not need the inverter unless planning to cruise and use 240V household appliances away from shore power.
Current Price: £4000.00
