For sale:My Unique 60ft 2/3 berth unique Traditional style narrowboat built by Gary Gorton in 2005. The best marine engine ever made, a Gardner 2LW engine orginally built in 1945 renovated in 2005 diesel. This is a real boaters boat. BSC to 31st July 2021 and last survey 2015 found the hull in immaculate condition.I have stripped and rebuilt approx ¾’s of this boat, i’ve been on the water along time and restored 5 boats (2 being on the historic list.) my plan was this was going to be my keeper due to the best boat engine money can buy, theyre called forever engine for a reason, thimble of diesel and she goes on forever. The engine is worth more than the rest of the hull, please do your research. I would say she needs minor work to complete, but as I have another land based project I need to spend my time doing that, I can finish the jobs but the price would increase. Main areas of maintenance are, boat could do with a paint outside, although there isn’t any rust, I prefer drab outside as it attracts less attention whilst continuous cruising. I believe I have built with a lot of experience living onboard fulltime. Security is very good due to portholes and a huge bar across the doors.Saloon : On entrance solid quirky oak lined doors Stairs down into the saloon also contain draws for extra storage, two side units with cupboards for storage underneath. Engineered oak flooring. Furnishings: Dark leather three-seater sofa that opens up into a double bed. Handmade drop leaf table. Heating is Morco gas boiler, calorifier tank and a coa;brookedale fuel stove. Good head clearance in living space approx. 6ft6” apart from at the front of the boat where interior slopes down to 6ft4”. 3x Brass Houdini hatch sky light above and brass porthole windows which are beautifully lined in oak. 6 x 12v and direct 2.1amp usb sockets. 12v down lights throughout.Galley: handmade by an artist L shape kitchen unit fitted to the port side with oak and beach worktops. Stainless steel sink with low level cupboard storage underneath (space for a fridge) and one free standing unit with side board for further storage. Allhandcrafted. Olive green splashback cut to pattern. Houdini hatch skylight and porthole windows. Free standing gas cooker with 4 burner hob grill and oven. Bedroom: Approx 8ft 11 in. Custom made bed that can be adjusted to a double 6ft 4” approx or used as is, including storage draws underneath.2 cupboards for hanging space. Fitted with really creative shelving along one side. Houdini hatch and porthole windows.6 x 12v socketsBathroom: Approx 4ft 6” 4ft large walk in shower unit with washbasin/vanity unit and pump out . Marcerator porceline toilet with 200lt tank under the floor in boatsman cabin.Engine room/boatman’s cabin: Approx 3ft2” 2x side hatches plus dove box. 1x single bunk, large cupboard storage. Beautiful and expensive Premier cabin range stove.Engine : Gardner 2LW, 2800cc,28bhp PRM gearbox and over sized alternator.Cooling : Water cooled2X 240w solar panels on the roof with a solar controller and digital display.Hull and superstructure: Botttom plate 10mm hullsides 6mm superstructure 4mm steel plates, I believe this boat was kept out of the water for a few years, may have been down to Gary Gorton passing away? I had her surveyed by Ralph Kitts at Casiobridge marina in Watford in 2015 where the hull was immaculate. The engine installation duo of Bill Geldard and Tony Redshaw is very respectable and the Gardner 2LW engine is arguably second to none in its class. Engine controlled by traditional speed wheel and gear rods. This 1945 example could do with running in as its been standing, otherwise shes good to go and absolutely bullet proof with an excellent PRM gearbox. She has a fat propeller and shaft, exact sizes escape me for the moment.Interior aft, boat-mans cabin, including premier stove. Engine room housing Gardner 2LW,PRM gearbox, removable roof panel for engine maintenance, 1.8KW inverter with 5 x110v batteries.Excellent British hull, there are no vertical joins in the hull or superstructure/sides of the boat. That is you will see no vertical weld lines as there are none, each side of the hull and super structure are made from single sheets of steel . It was built by Stuart Hodges working for Gary Gorton in 2003. His design is unique to my knowledge, I haven’t seen it before all other narrowboats I have seen have a vertical weld lines on the sides of the hull and structure and are made of a series of shorter sheets wielded together, not this one. The boat is currently cruising in west London and the price is £38,000 please feel free to get intouch. Tel; Mark 07759515057 and for viewing Radha 07496026637.
