“Boromir is a soundly built river cruiser built by the Michael Bennet boatyard of Chertsey U.K. in the 80’s. 11m (36ft) in length and a beam of 2.1m. She remains to be of serviceable condition with all steelwork and playing having resisted the effects of corrosion in a satisfactory manner. Some minor wear is evident, but the underwater areas were assessed as remaining in good condition, and the vessel retains an acceptable appearance and finish. All mechanical equipment is in serviceable condition and suitable for use on the canals and river network”
This is an excerpt from the last survey Boromir had in 2016. I didn’t have one done when I bought it because since this survey she has been permanently moored with no travel displacement or engine time used. It’s also on a tidal estuary so you can see the hull very clearly when the tide is out with you’re own jetty to board her from.

I bought Boromir as a temporary home whilst a house sale completed which is now done and the reason for the boat sale. I’ve fallen in love with both the boat, the boatyard (albeit a typical scruffy working boatyard), the river and the surrounding area. Flanked by the South Downs, great villages and towns with equally great pubs and bars and very very cycle friendly. Not just the tow paths but the roads have cycle paths too. It’s snug, cosy and probably too small for a couple (unless it’s a weekend getaway) but it’s perfect if you’re single with cat 🙂 It fits a handful of people in perfectly for some drinks and the canopy on the top deck comes down and creates a gorgeous outdoor eating area or workshop. The canopy is a simple ‘pram’ hood style. Excellent travel links to Brighton (6 miles away) Lewes, Gatwick and London.
The hull was blackened and the anodes done in 2017. And she’s clean, very cosy, tidy and ready to move into. She currently has a excellent working order wood burner, full sized gas oven, full size fridge with freezer, double bed, and electric mains hook up, gas system for the oven and hot water (for the sink and the shower room). Portable toilet is included however alternative options are available such as a chemical loo (not included).
?It’s hull will be due some care and attention in 2021 ish – I have a quote for the works – which are standard – at £2700 plus vat. She’s a safe £25k boat and will keep her value as it’s a very sound boat and an equally sound superior engine in my opinion, which purrs.
