For sale is my daughters 40 ft Narrow Boat ‘Genevieve’. She has lived on this boat for 4 years and it has been a superb home. My wife and I lived in the same marina on our wide beam, until recently, when we moved off. She has now moved off into a flat with her partner and reluctantly the boat is now up for sale.
She was originally a 1970s ex IWA working boat made of very hard Imperial Corten steel. She was converted into an all steel leisure narrowboat in the 80s. The hull is very heavily built and the hull survey carried out in March showed no signs of wear or corrosion. She was blacked and the anodes were checked and found to be in good condition. A galvanic isolator is fitted on the 240v supply. BSC is to March 2019.
The engine is a water cooled Lister SR2W, with a skin tank, rather than raw water cooled. It runs superbly and will thump along all day. 2 110AH leisure batteries and one start battery are fitted. A 3000w inverter is available but has never been used as far as I can remember. The boat has mainly been a home, other than the odd cruise to the local town (Ely), it has stayed in the marina on 240v shore power.
Inside is a morso squirrel wood burning stove, Jabsco hand pump sea toilet, full size shower, fully equipped kitchen, 240v power and sockets, with RCD protection, slimline washing machine, 240v fridge, full size LPG cooker, Morco D61E LPG water heater. The kitchen is from Ikea, with oak worktops and lots of storage space, the washing machine sits under the end of the kitchen worktop. Whale 30psi fresh water pump and gulper waste pump for the shower. The NABRU leather narrowboat sofa is staying if the new owners want it. It is designed for boats and can be assembled and taken apart easily as there are no screws, the sections slot together.
The boat is available with a mooring at its current marina, the Fish and Duck, just North of Cambridge. The mooring can be used all year round and there is a large liveaboard population. The marina is fully serviced with finger and bank side moorings. Any moorings will need to be negotiated directly with the marina management. The marina is 10 miles North of Cambridge, 240v power, water, gas, diesel, BT Broadband and phone and unlimited car parking are available. The marina is pet friendly. If not required the boat can be cruised anywhere on the UK canal system or there is a marina with a crane a couple of miles up river if it needs to be lifted onto a lorry.
