AVAILABLE FROM OCTOBER 1ST A hand-made & open-plan 43ft narrowboat in reclaimed oak and mahogany with a 48v Lynch Marlin 8kW electric engine.
I built this boat over the course of the pandemic to be our eco-friendly
dream home which it has been for nearly 5 years. The fit out is high
quality upcycled, recycled and reclaimed materials where feasible. There
is a double bed and space for single guests (under 5’8″) in the stern.
There are no fossil fuels used on the boat although we do cook and heat
the boat with wood on a beautiful, A-rated Esse Ironheart Stove during
the winter months (Late October – Late February). There is also a huge
990 litre water tank which lasts 6 weeks between fills even with heavy
use of the shower.
The floor is oak parquet layered over reclaimed mahogany. Curtain rails
and fittings are copper, the kitchen counter is quartz and there is a
two-tiered butler sink. A pigeon box makes sure the boat doesn’t get
smokey from the stove in winter and cools the boat down in the summer.
There is a compost toilet and manual drain tub shower (no fussy,
damp-prone internal water drainage and pump).
Hull finished and floated in December 2019 by John from Three Bz Boat
Builders in Polesworth. Standard thickness 10mm bottom x 6mm sides.
Blacked again Summer 2022. The bilge is 100% dry and the boat has had no
damp issues.
ELECTRIC PROPULSION:
2×4 12v batteries. Great power March-October (with good sun). We’ve
never needed a generator but cruising distances are shortened in winter
if you cook on induction regularly as well. Engine & batteries installed Dec 2021.Full BSC.
She has a lot of character and runs beautifully. Perfect for a single or
a couple who don’t want a diesel boat and want to live somewhere with
