Coritani Driftwood (renamed:pootle) is a 45 feet Steel hulled narrowboat wich appears to have been originally built with plate of approx 1/4” (6.3mm) thickness.She was built in 1973 by Dobsons and has undergone several internal changes during her life.She is powered by a single BMC 1.5 litre 4 cylinder diesel engine which provides propulsion via a hydraulic drive system to an external outdrive.Coritani is an unusual design in that she has a centre cockpit or wheelhouse which is sited approx. 10” from the stern deck.The hull has a slight ‘V’ and a large centre keel.There is a ‘U’ shape skeg beneath the outdrive.The main engine,calorifier and diesel tank are all located beneath the centre cockpit floor.The hidraulic tank is sited under the port gunnel.The wheelhouse has a sliding wooden top with fabric sides and back.A single door and steps leads from the cockpit to the stern cabin wich has a WC to starboard and fitted double bunk to the rear.The WC is equipped with toilett,wash hand basin and shower.The waste tank located under the bunk.Last survey was carried out in 2009 and at the time the hull above the waterline had a minimum reading of 5.1mm and a maximum reading of 6.3mm.Hull below the water line had a minimum reading of 4.7mm and a maximum of 6.3mm.At the time she was valued of £26000 This year I’ve black the hull with 4 layers of coat and welded new anods.At the moment she is in east London on a countinous crusing licence,so I move her every two week.
