Welcome to my listing for my beautiful newly restored 46ft narrow boat, Bertie.*FINISHING TOUCHES BEING CARRIED OUT WITH COMPLETION EXPECTED BY 5th OCTOBER, MORE PHOTOS TO COME. CRACKS BETWEEN TONGUE AND GROOVE TO BE CAULKED AND REPAINTED.I’ve been restoring Bertie for the last year and a half in my spare time with the intention to live on her. It’s been a labour of love! However, I’ve now got a new project on the go and can’t afford to keep her. Bertie has been in hard-standing since February 2018 and craned into the water on 27/19/2019 with 3 fresh coats of blacking.Bertie is a fantastic boat and I’ve loved the handful of days I’ve spent living on her. Such a lovely cosy living room with the fire blasting!-Newly restored Lister SR3 engine, restored by Lister themselves and professionally fitted and tuned-Bottom over-plated with 6mm steel around 5 years ago. High quality job with an extremely good running edge with barely any wear as Bertie wasn’t used much after the work was done by the previous owner-Full cover on the stern which keeps the heat in and keeps the water out the engine bay. Also acts like a porch so you can take off your muddy shoes without getting the inside mucky. It was made around 6 years ago at a cost of over £2000.-The large cruiser stern is perfect if you want to take guests out, up to 6!-4 years boat safety certificate-Bertie was made in 1979. Many boat owners prefer older boats as the steel quality was much higher and British made.-Bertie has a full survey from October 2018 with all recommendations carried out and more for peace of mind.-New water system fitted with an 18L LPG heater, expansion tank and Shurflo pumps, which have been barely used.-Push fit piping for ease and reliability.-Big under bed carpeted storage section with a draw for easy access to clothes.-Open storage cupboard in the hallway with space to hang 20 shirts and shelves below for shoes.-Front seating area newly made with marine ply and up-cycled pallet wood, treated with danish oil.-Restored front cover with high quality waterproof canvas.-Lots of new wiring and switches fitted with a brand new sine wave 3000W inverter.-3x new quality leisure batteries and 1x starter batteries, fitted in January 2019 and always hooked up to a battery charger which switches on and off to maintain the optimum charge level for longevity-Brass Mushroom vents and brass interior vents professionally polished and spray lacquered so they keep their shine.-Brand new MADE sofa bed.-Brand new Howdens kitchen units-Brand new premium laminate flooring and beading-Brand new lighting throughout-Brand new thermal blinds fitted throughout-Brand new premium kitchen and bathroom rubber slate effect flooring costing over £300. Extremely tough wearing and waterproof for these wet areas is a must!-Brand new cut to size memory foam bed costing £700, slept on a handful of times-Brand new locks and handles throughout-Brand new stove fan which circulates heat down the hallway to the bedroom-Stove and chimney repainted-Stove area tiled with grey metro style tiles-Top quality thick flooring underlay throughout-New kitchen worktops (Unfortunately spilt some paint next to the sink, tried my best to get it off but there is a mark)-Spinflo Enigma cooker with large main oven, grill and 4 hob burner. These cookers are £600 new-The fridge/freezer can run off 12v and LPG when you’re on the go, and 240v when you’re moored up with a hook up.-Left hand side shelving and bathroom worktop made from up-cycled scaff boards, gives it a lovely rustic feel.-Beautiful brand new Tavertine stone sink (£300) carved from one solid piece in the kitchen and a Victoria Plumb above counter sink, both with push plugs and top quality Bristan taps.-Tongue and groove sanded back to bare wood and painted with 2 coats of undercoat, 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of top coat.-The back of the boat under the floorboards where water collects has been wire brushed back to steel and blacked-Totally refurbished bathroom with new units-New anodes fitted in February 2019, but like new as it has been in hard standing since they were fitted up until 27/09/2019-3 coats of Ballistic Black which has a higher percentage of volume solids than Intertuf 16, Comastic and Rylards Rytex. This means that when applied at the same spreading rate Ballastic Black will provide a thicker coating (in some cases 30% thicker) which will give better corrosion protection.-Great paint job with 3 coats primer and 4 coats top coat. The paint job was done the proper way by rolling then drawing the paint off with a quality paint brush, leaving a lovely smooth thick finish.-Gas locker wire brushed back to steel and painted.-Windows removed and reinstalled with new sealant.-This was not a recommendation from the surveyor, but the deepest pits (1mm) were puddle welded just for peace of mind. All welding work carried out by a certified welder with 30+ years experience.-Engine bay painted with 3 coats of metal paint.-Engine bay boards remade with marine ply and painted with grey deck paint which has particles in for better slip resistance.-Anti slip tape applied to the gunnels.Happy to answer any questions!Kind regards,Drew
