For sale is my 45ft Chappell and Wright narrowboat. I recently acquired it from the estate of an elderly chap that passed away in hospital following a fall. In 2017 he purchased it for £37k when it was named “Boat of the Month” in the Nov edition of Canal Boat Magazine (it was even on the front cover!).My intention was to do some cosmetic refurbishments (mainly paint the roof and gunwales/bow as the paint has peeled on the non slip surfaces) and sell it for circa £30k however I thought I’d see if there is any interest as is before I start. The boat is in Northampton and I live in Yorkshire so it isn’t easy for me to do anything hence a reduced price for a quick easy sale. The boat itself offers a lot for the money and could be a bargain for somebody that can give it some tlc. It has a BMC 1.8 engine that runs well and was recently serviced and that im told has been hardly used. There is a boatman’s stove with back boiler as well as an eberspacher heating system. There is also a calorifier with an immersion heater. There are 4 leisure batteries, a victron multi plus compact inverter charger, gas cooker etc. The boat has a large saloon, kitchen, walk through bathroom and a small bedroom with a cross width bed. At the stern is a small engine room with the inverter etc.The main cabin sides are in good condition and will wash/polish nicely. The roof and gunwales as well as parts of the bow need repainting in my opinion however once done it will be a good looking boat. From what I can gather it has not been surveyed since purchase in Nov 2017 and possibly not blacked although nobody seems to know. You are welcome to arrange one if you would like one. I have been told that it was looked after meticulously up until that point by a well known boater. I know that it has a BSS until 2024 although I don’t know when but may be able to find out. I am thinking of doing a viewing day on possibly Friday or Sunday if anybody wants to view to make it easier as I have to travel down. Offers considered for a quick easy sale. Thanks
