Twm Barlwm is an amazingly unique narrow-boat, designed for a low-cost and low-energy consumption lifestyle. The design of the boat & general dimensions make her suitable for navigation on all the interconnected British waterways and her modest draught makes for an easy passage on the shallower canals.

External – Twm Barlwm is a very distinct and unique cruiser-stern narrow-boat, recently stripped back to the shell and fully repainted in quality Coachmaster paint (3 layers of primer, 3 layers of undercoat and 2 layers of top-coat). She is painted in a combination of ‘Highway Yellow’, ‘Union Green’, ‘Black’ and ‘Burrell Plum’ and has bees decorating her paint-work which represent the folk-lore surrounding her name,To the roof, Twm Barlwm has both raised and traditional steel hand-rails for grip support. The stern deck houses two steel storage boxes (formerly used for gas storage) and provides wooden-top seating. The bow has a small fold-down wooden table for a compact relaxation space.
Internal – Twm Barlwm’s real wow factor comes from it’s interior. Having been stripped back to its hull in 2016, the boat was re-wired, re-plumbed and re-insulated before being re-built using entirely reclaimed timbers. Oak floor-boards have been fitted throughout. The boat is entered via the stern into the dinette area, where there is a dining table and seating which converts into a comfortable double bed. The seats provide useful storage and have been covered in a quality, organic hemp fabric. The dinette / bed backs onto the kitchen area which is dominated by a stunning 1880’s cast-iron solid-fuel oven. Tiles have been hand-made in Stoke especially for Twm Barlwm and there is a solid bespoke side-hatch window crafted by the very talented ‘Blacksmiths Boat’. The kitchen units have all been hand-crafted in oak and pine, with one housing a new shower sump-pump. Leading away from the kitchen there is a compost toilet-room (with glittery urine separator!) and a separate sit-in shower room with a solar shower included. There is a small shelving unit for food etc before the second bedroom / seating area is reached. The second sleeping area can be enjoyed as either fixed bunks or folded down to make a sofa area. When the bunks are fixed, the bottom bunk-bed extends out to approximately twice it’s width to make a second double bed. Again there is storage beneath. There is a fixed shelving unit built into this area which leads on into the ‘snug’.The snug is a gorgeous relaxation area fitted with a carpet and another beautiful unique bookshelf. The external door is complimented by a lovely reclaimed stained-glass window. Small steps lead out of the bow-door and provide additional storage within the boat. The bow provides a relaxing seating-out area with a foldable wooden table and astro-turf flooring.
Systems Engine is a 1.5 BMC with a virtually indestructible original gearbox. A new 3-point starter switch was fitted in 2016. The engine has literally just been fully serviced.Electrics consist of 12v lighting (5 x 5W LEDs). When we have needed additional electrics we have used a plug-in inverter (available with the boat) There is one starter battery and three leisure batteries which are charged by the engine. There is an electrical hook up lead which we can include with the sale should a new owner wish to charge laptops, phones etc..
