55′ Narrow Boat, Live Aboard

Perfect full time live aboard Narrow boat which has been designed for comfortable living. Cow rabbit has been our home for 3 years touring the canal network and recently moored on a residential mooring in a marina. Cruiser stern with reverse layout so you enter through the galley/kitchen. The stern has a full pram cover so it’s basically another room which is good for drying clothing, wet dogs etc. The galley is fully fitted out, there’s an integrated fridge with freezer box, washing machine, full size gas oven and a 3 burner Thetford hob, astrcast sink, lots of cupboard space. The living room has lots of space for a bed settee or individual seating, a fold away table, a fold away workstation, multi fuel stove that is really efficient and heats the whole boat. From the living room you enter the bathroom which again is fully equipped, a full sized shower cubicle with powerful shower, a vanity sink unit with lots of storage space and a Thetford electric flush cassette toilet with spare cassettes for when you’re out cruising or moored on the towpath. The bedroom is very spacious with a full sized fixed double with storage underneath and at the sides. There’s also a set of drawers in the bedroom and a radiator. The door at the front to the bow which you get to by stepping over the headboard or from along the gunnel is where the gas locker is located. The engine is a Vetus 45hp diesel, last serviced in Oct 23 and it powers the generator/ invertor and heats the water as well as powering the boat. We had thermal break double glazed windows fitted last year throughout which cost nearly £5000 and are worth every penny, the reduction in condensation, noise and heat loss is amazing. Also last year the exterior was professionally painted by Edward Strong on the Ashby Canal which was £10,000. The boat safety certificate was done in March 2024 and the only advisory was low level ventilation could be improved by changing the cat flap for an air vent, our cat didn’t agree with that though! You will not get a better boat for your money, we are only selling because of health issues that have forced us to move to a bungalow. It’s a brilliant way of life, a fantastic community, and the canal network is a great way of seeing the country. I’d recommend living in a boat to anybody and if your going to live on a boat, ours is a perfect one to live on. There’s over 6’4″ of headroom, I’m over 20 stone and a big chap and I had plenty of room on board. In the winter it’s as warm as toast and a lot cheaper to heat and run than any household. we didn’t want to compromise on comfort so there’s lots of storage space, lots of cooking space, a spacious well designed bathroom and a very comfortable bed. We are selling via Aquavista brokers at Sawley Marina where we had until recently a residential mooring, if you require a mooring speak to the guys at the marina and I’m sure they’ll be able to do you a good deal. It’s a nice place to be, very friendly and safe with lots of benefits. We are selling below the valuation price as we want a quicker sale, similar boats to ours with less storage are selling for £8/10k more but because of my health issues this is an opportunity of a lifetime for somebody to grab a £60,000+ boat for a fraction of the price. I’m not interested in renting it out or leasing it, I’m not interested in giving out my bank details and having couriers collect it but I would consider taking a motorcycle based trike in part exchange.
