Jessie is a 55ft Cruiser Stern narrowboat, built in 1980 by Hancock and Lane of Daventry.
She is very well proportioned with Lounge and Kitchen to the bow,
two bedrooms (one cum office /dining room) and bathroom to the stern.
She is powered by a Ford Dorset 4.2L tractor engine giving her bags of torque and is easily capable in tidal rivers.
Jessie has a 750L stainless steel freshwater tank with a Johnson
aquajet pressure pump and accumulator tank providing ample pressure at
the taps and shower. Water is heated by an instantaneous Bosch gas fired
water heater, never short of hot water!
Heating inside the boat is a Morso squirrel 1430 multifuel stove
which has a back boiler heating a radiator further down the boat. The
boat is always cosy and warm in winter and is insulated throughout with a
mixture of rock wool and celotex insulation.
There are three solar panels on the roof providing 750W of power
with an Epever Tracer MPPT controller. The boat electrics are 12V, with 6
2V deep cycle forklift batteries providing approx 750Ah of power. The
batteries are fitted with a BFS central degassing and filling system,
which makes filling the batteries very easy. There is a Cotek 2000w pure
sinewave inverter providing 240v power throughout the boat when needed.
Jessie also has a 300w windturbine which provides power in windy
conditions.
Jessie had her BSS earlier this year so is not due retesting until 2024.
I had her out of the water in Oct 2019 and reblacked her, and added some more anodes.
There are plenty of 240v sockets throughout the boat alongside 12v
and usb sockets so there are plenty of places for charging phones etc.
All the lighting throughout the boat is LED which keeps your power
consumption to a minimum.
Jessie has a mimorad 4g WiFi antenna on a mast and a 4G simcard WiFi router in the boat.
Jessie has a large gas locker with space for two 13kg gas bottles, there is a shut off and a bubble tester for peace of mind.
Jessie is quite secure, I have provided good locks on the doors and
you are not reliant on a padlock for security. There is a locking cat
flap in the stern door so perfect if you have a cat or want one.
The woodburner is sat on a beautiful granite hearth which also
provides storage space for logs and kindling. There is a car stereo and
speakers in the lounge for music and radio, and there is a battery
voltage gauge.
There is a comfy sofa bed in the lounge. Jessie has lined curtains throughout the boat
Jessie has a good sized kitchen with an oven with separate grill,
and a four hob burner. The worktops are in iroko hardwood, and there is a
good sized resin sink and mixer tap. There is a second worktop in
granite and plenty of drawers for cutlery and storage space for food and
pans. There is a fridge with a freezer box.
The second bedroom has a bed which converts into a table, with seat
boxes providing lots of storage space in them, and there is a hardwood
panelled side hatch. There is a radiator here too which makes this a
very comfortable and cosy space. We used this mainly for an office or as
a bedroom when my son came to stay, and the table will fit four people
sat around for meals and games.
The main bedroom has eight drawers underneath for clothes and
storage, and there is room for storage behind the drawers f. There are
reading lights in both bedrooms.
The bathroom has a thetford cassette toilet with a spare cassette,
an excellent shower cubicle with a folding glass door, and a Mira
element shower. There is a whale gulper shower waste pump and also an
automatic whale bilge pump in case of spills. There is a small wash hand
basin and mixer tap, and two bathroom cupboards.
The boat is floored with hard wearing Lino throughout which is very easy to clean.
Jessie has been a very happy home for me for the last four years and
I am keen to see her go to someone who will love her.
I just had a survey done in mid january, everything was fine so that is available if interested.
