Synchronicity is a 57’ Narrowboat built in 2003 by renowned UK boat builders Mike Christian. She is powered by a 38bhp Beta Marine engine with only 450 running hours on the clock.
Synchronicity has been beautifully fit out, fully clad in Ash throughout with a fitted kitchen, modern bathroom and a double bedroom to the stern. She boasts a powerful electrical system and ample tankage allowing freedom to cruise and moor away from water points and sanitary stations.
Synchronicity has been our home since June 2016 and is perfectly fit out as a liveaboard narrowboat. We are reluctantly selling due to a change in our circumstances. She was commissioned in 2003 and saw very little use in the first 13 years of her life. She spent many years on blocks out of the water due to her owner moving overseas. Her stove had never been used, the oven still had cellophane on and the engine had only had 70 hours of use.
The survey we had undertaken at the time of purchase showed that her 10/6/5/4 steel construction mainly had readings over 5.8mm on the side plates. Since our purchase she has been taken from the water and blacked every two years and the engine has been serviced regularly.
We have added much liveaboard functionality since 2016 with a new Sterling Combi Inverter, 900W of solar panels, 575Ah of new deep cycle batteries, a washing machine and much enhanced storage. We retained her original cladding which was done in a beautiful Ash throughout.
Synchronicity is ready for her new owners to enjoy a fun life on the waterways of Britain.
Synchronicity is a comfortable full-time home for two. She features a large double bedroom to the stern with ample storage in cupboards above and underneath the bed. A wardrobe with shelving is built at the foot of the bed. A door which leads to the engine room currently holds a large mirror and the dry engine room provides further storage if required. Under the bed is copious storage and the Bedroom has two portholes.
The bathroom features a spacious, high-pressure but low-water-usage shower and a porcelain Jabsco electric flush pump-out toilet. The large holding tank capacity is sufficient for two people living aboard for 1-2 months. A towel radiator, powered by the stove’s backboiler, keeps the bathroom a comfortable temperature in the winter. The bathroom has one porthole and an extractor fan.
The large galley kitchen boasts abundant worktop counter space and storage, and includes integrated appliances such as a 240V fridge; gas oven and hob; and a 6kg Washing Machine. A side-hatch is located in the kitchen providing a lot of light and air on a summer evening. Shelving has been fitted in the hallway which is currently used as a larder.
The living room / saloon to the forward of the boat is light, bright and roomy and features a Morso Squirrel stove which has been converted to run off diesel with a Lockgate Oil Stoves Ltd conversion. The stove has a back-boiler fitted which powers radiators in both the bedroom and bathroom.
Currently, free-standing furniture is used and a large sofa and dining table is used with ample space for a coffee table, drawers and shelving. To the bow, two large cupboards are found which provide access to the 420 litre water tank and water pump. An additional hot-water tank is found towards the stern. The headroom throughout is 6’7”.
Energy generation is primarily from the 900W solar panel array on the roof which produces a lot of charge all-year round. The engine alternator provides power during cruising whilst the calorifier heats water. Finally, the 2500W Sterling combi inverter doubles up as a 85A intelligent three stage battery charger when connected to shoreline.
The battery bank comprises of five 115Ah Trojan Deep Cycle batteries that are able to both store large amounts of energy and sustain large currents during use by items such as hairdryers and washing machines.
Electrical systems comprise a 230V AC ring main powered by a 2.5KW Sterling pure sine wave inverter, 12V systems for marine appliances and lighting.
Solar Panel and Battery monitors are located at the entrance to the engine room to easily check charge-levels.
Synchronicity’s sprayfoam insulation acts as a moisture and heat barrier to eliminate condensation.
The boat is heated by a Morso Squirrel Stove which has been converted through Lockgate Oil Stove Ltd products to run from diesel from the main Diesel tank in the stern. The pump-powered back-boiler provides heating to radiators in the bedroom and bathroom. The diesel stove allows good temperature regulation, is easy to start and benefits from easy maintenance.
In total, 500 litres of fresh water is stored which can comfortably last two people two weeks when having daily showers and using the washing machine.
The rear tank provides hot water via a Calorifier whilst the engine is running, a 1KW immersion heater, or via the back-boiler whilst using the stove.
The Jabsco porcelain macerator toilet is connected to a 200 litre pump-out (waste holding) tank which can last for 2 months between pump-outs with two people living aboard full time.
