** REASONABLE OFFERS CONSIDERED ** (but please, be reasonable)I am selling, what was meant to be my forever home. She needs work done, which I had budgeted for and always meant to do. My family (of 4) lived on her reasonably comfortably for the past 2 years. But unemployment has forced my timeline in selling her. I tried looking at relocating her to the Llangollen canal, but I can hardly walk, let alone be on a boat. So I need to let my boat go. But she might yet make someone else a lovely home!We had her on a residential mooring (now a leisure), but it can be transferred.Considering she is older than me (how many Springers do you see around??), she is still in reasonable condition. With some work you can have a nice boat. She is at a working marina, with a working marine engineer that is aware of the boat, and indicated he can do the work required.KEY ITEMS:Bilges sanded and anti-rust painted October 2016New shore/240v Electricity installed November 2016New insulation (celotex and insulation foil) 2016New floorboards installed October 2016Engine serviced Nov 2017 (runs well)Engine wiring for starter and engine panel redone in 2017All central heating pipes and radiators fitted (but not connected to backboiler)Morco boiler fitted (but not gas-connected) for hot waterCertified gas cooker installed January 201712v FridgeWorking water system – we used to drink, wash and brush teeth from it daily for over 2 yearsNew canvas stern cover fitted September 2017Mini 240v washing machine and tumble dryerDETAILED DESCRIPTIONWe bought her in August 2016 as an empty hull. There was absolutely nothing inside. We fitted new layers of insulation (Celotex, double insulation foil) and a new layer of plywood on the walls. In July 2018, I started sanding the exterior down and painted with a layer of rust-proof primer. Sadly, I suffered a terrible back injury, for which I am nearly 11 months later still on morphine every 2 hours. So we had to move out of our boat and back onto a concrete square on land. The photos show a custom-made stern cover that we paid ~£2,000 for in September 2017. It is still in great condition. We also installed fresh water, with brand-new shore electricity (installed December 2016). Because we’re a tech family, we even have USB ports in the plugs. It was good enough to run 3 family computers and various things we needed to work from “home” with. All pipes and connections are fitted for central heating, but not connected to the very beautifully refurbished victorian fireplace. It works so well. We also sanded down the entirety of the bilges, and painted them with new anti-rust paint. Then installed new floorboards. The largely open space is clear to be built in with a large solid fuel stove and charming features around. The boat is currently divided into four cabins with an open-plan living area aft and including the stove and cooking equipment. A walk-through shower room follows before a bunk room and at the forward end, a good sized cabin that could easily become a main cabin or second living space. This boat offers wide possibilities for the future development.Engine was serviced in November 2017 before a 4 day cruise to the current mooring. I’ve done a fair bit of cruising with my boat and she has always been lovely to cruise with.BAD BITS: The recent survey, conducted 31 May 2019, said that some work is needed. This is all in line with what I expected.Key points from survey below:V BottomOriginally 5mm plate. Internal corrosion at the bow has reducedthickness to 4.5mm at the frd chines and 3.8mm along thecentre V for the forward 20’ of the craft. The centre section ofthe bottom, around the side doors, is in a better conditionmeasuring 4.8mm at the outboard edges and 4.5mm at thecentre V. Aft from here, at the old bathroom, thickness reducesto 3.0mm and appears thin by hammer testing. The aft chineshave local wear to 4.2mm thick. Pitting overall is minimal at thebottom has previously been painted externally.* V bottom to overplate (due to the chine construction, a 4”footing plate will be required around the chines).SidesOriginally 5mm plate, the bow and hull parallel sides are in agood clean condition measuring 5.0mm reducing to 4.8mm atthe footings and folded upper chines. Pitting is negligible.Wear at the aft chines (upper and lower) has reduced thicknessto < 4mm, the prominent chines are becoming hammer soft.Corrosion in the engine compartment has affected the thicknessof the upper swim, in particular the stbd aft upper swim ishammer soft. Similarly the lower counter sides and lowertransom are delaminated and hammer soft.* 4” of upper swim, 4” of lower counter sides and transomto overplate.* Aft upper chines to locally overplate 1’ x 4”.Counter FloorOriginally 5mm plate. The floor appears sound in the old skincooling tank. Severe internal corrosion and delamination arepresent, the counter floor is hammer soft frd of the old skincooling tank, around the weedhatch and under the diesel tank.Thickness varies from 4.5mm to 3.1mm.* Counter floor to overplate.Hull External continued GeneralFour serviceable magnesium anodes are fitted by welding. The hull will require reblacking on completion of repairs.Hull Internal As previously mentioned severe corrosion is present in theengine compartment including around the weedhatch and at thebase of the diesel tank (the diesel tank will likely requirerenewal). The top of the skin cooling tank is delaminating, the tank willrequire renewal in the very near future.Rudder The rudder bushes are a little worn, the shaft and blade are alittle bent but the rudder is serviceable. The rudder tube hasrecently been renewed with a 4mm thick footing plate; thisshould be re-overplated with the counter floor repair.Weedhatch The weedhatch has severe corrosion around its base, it leaks while the engine is manoeuvring.* Weedhatch to renew.Propeller/Sterntube/ShaftThe unit has severe wear, the shaft has corroded, the engine ismisaligned and the gland is leaking.* Sterntube assembly to overhaul.Gas Locker The gas locker has been rebottomed and is in a sound condition with adequate overboard ventilation. Those are the main bits – anything else, please ask. Viewing can be arranged, but I need a couple or three days advance warning, as I am no longer living on her.A leisure mooring near Tring in Hertfordshire may be available for a 5% transfer fee.BUYER COLLECTSSTRICTLY CASH ON COLLECTION OR VERIFIED BANK TRANSFER.
