Welcome to the sale of ELLA GURU my beautiul 48 ft trad narrowboatThe boat she is a 48ft fully steel narrowboat which has been maintained to a high standard, shes a 1984 wards build boat with lots of extras for convieniece which not many boats can offer, HeatingA big one for people looking to venture onto a narrowboat, the first question is it cold on a narrow boat? well short answer is no, however is your house cold in the winter with no heating on? yes and so are boats, most definatly colder too, however during this last winter ( wasnt it a harsh one) me and my other half were more than happy if im totally honest with you we sometimes overdid it and found ourselves opening the windows in the height of winter it was that warm!! so heating, we have a multi fuel stove which is perfect for the size of this boat, we mainly burn wood but did burn long lasting coal in the winter and it was spot on, as described it was sometimes overdone and became to warm. We also have a webasto diesel heater which runs 4 radiators in the boat and uses 1/2 ltr of diesel an hour which is very very economical and penny saving when you work out the fuel rate cost. this is on a timer and can be set to come on at your preference ( we had it on an hour before getting up in winter as you would at home) this also heats up your hot water for showers and washing up etc, and very quick may i add the radiators get hot within about 5 mins and the water tank will folllow about 20 mins after. Running of the engine also heats the water but will explain this in the engine section.Water we have a 300ltr water tank in the front of the boat under the entrance in the bow so out of sight, this lasts us about 2 and a half weeks and thats not being carefull, thats washing water sink water, drinking water and most importantly shower water which we both used each day so very efficient.Electric Now heres the good bit, anyone that lives on a boat will know power is a big problem on boats if its not done right, you have to be careful what you use or even if you have enough power to use something or have to run your engines to charge up the batteries just to watch the tv………. not us, when i first purcharsed this boat she only had 1 solar panel and this was for the 1 starter battery so it was never flat and left you in the middle of nowhere not being able to start the engine, so with the vast space on the roof i decided to install 2 great big solar panels which now between them generate  550watts of power and to put it in simple terms its “loads” so now we dont have to even think of electric and this is no over the top comment   we literally dont look at it, all the lights throught the boat are led so use practicallty no electric, the telly is a new eco friendly type so also uses no electric and all other appliences are 12v and are rated at a low power voltage, even on a dullest of dullest days the solar panels still take power in so we have never been short of electric. the solar panels are controlled by a mppt controller which is the best and most expensive sort.Inverter, at the rear of the boat is a 3000w inverter, this runs off 4 110amp batterys that are only 1 year old and these store battery power from either running the engine or what the solar panels are generating and putting into the batteries, this can easily power hair dryers straightners hoovers and such like appliances.Plug sockets 2 at the sofa 2 in the kitchen and 2 in the bedroom area these are 240v for when your in a marina hooked up to power and is very very economical we used £11 in 6 months.Bathroomwe have a thetford c2 toilet which works well for us, just the same as a caravan toilet, we have 3 spare tanks for this so if you decide to travel around you covered ( we used to need to change the toilet tank once every 2 weeks so thats 6 weeks of traveling and you wouldnt be stuck. The shower works like no other and hot tap and a cold tap such as the sink etc, just like your bathroom back at home.living areaAs you can see, the open plan living space is a joy to spend time in, its nice and spacious and light with the sofa which also pulls down into a bed and the log burner close its very cosy.KitchenAs you can see a very modern new kitchen …. thats because its only a few months old, the old kitchen was dated and just brought the image of the boat right down, a brand new gas over (still has 1 year warranty) which has all the jets converted to run lpg and uses a 13kg once every 5/6 months…… thats £28 every 5/6 months thats a maximum of £5.60 a month! The 12v fridge and freezer is very low energy and has served us very well indeed ( still has 1 yr warranty ) this runs off the 12v battery system and as the solar panels do there job every day we have not had to look or worry about the running of it. Large amounts of cupboard space and 3 large deep drawes and the one large kitchen cabinet above the cooker is more than enough space for us 2.BedroomAs you can see the bed is high up and for good reason, as we all know heat rises and although its hot on a boat if your beds low down your not going to be no where near as warm as you could be but this isnt the only reason, its also so you can benifet from loads of extra storage as under the bed is a large area for storage you dont want to see ( hoovers, fishing rods, plastic storage tubs etc) but also along side of this there is a chest of drawes built into the side of the bed. so for clothes storage there is the large chest of drawes along side and then at the bottom of the bed theres a curtian and there is a wardrobe for all your hanging clothes the full way accross the bed.Office areaas you can see there is a small desk i do some work from and its right next to the inverter too for phone charging and plugging laptop into etc its also at the opposite end of the boat to the tv so you can sit down there and concerntrate with work without too much distraction down the far end of the boat. The garage ( as i call it )At the rear of the boat is a section where the engine sits benieth and some boarding sits above and this 7ft by 4ft area is used to store toilet tanks and various other bits such as tools, buckets, coal, fishing bait generators etc.The hull The boat was fully replated the entire length of the bottom of the boat a few years back with receipts to prove costing £4500 so this boat is pretty bullet proof for many many years to come, she is in her last year of blacking exparation so she will want blacking at some point, also better to do it abit early than abit late.Windows all double glazed windows throughout the boat and really does keep the warm in but also makes the boat light and spacious Enginewe have a brand new beta 50hp ( a beast for this little boat ) but it comes with its beniefts, one being she potters along practically at idle so less fuel used, but better than that when your on a river with quite a flow she doesnt even blink, she just trucks along like its nothing, most 60ft boats have a beta 43hp at a push, recenty been serviced 40 running hours ago so wont need to worry about this. this including new oil, new oil filter, new air filter, new fuel filter, new gearbox filter and a good service all round the to make sure shes running perfect, but with only 480 hrs on the clock its got 10s of years left in it with regular services etc reciepts for this engine at nearly £8000 this can also be ran to heat your hot water for showers etc Fabrications Skin tanks x 2 new engine beds cost of £1540Boat safety certificate ( boat mot )just renewed in may this year so this doesnt need doing until may 2022 needed some modification on the gas pipe and it passed no problemsi have no doubt missed certain things so i shall had them in a the bottom of the page as and when i remember we have a genuine reason for sale and it really is a reluctant sale but feel free to ask if your interestedany questions please feel free to ask any day of the week 07881382570
