To raise funds for the Wooden Canal Boat Society. a 35 foot concrete hulled narrowboat. There are very few concrete hulled canal boats but they tend to last better than steel ones. There’s one in Gloucester Museum still afloat and in good condition built in 1918. She was clearly originally fitted with an inboard engine but this was removed and replaced with an outboard (not included). The hull is very sturdy with just a couple of little bits of damage that will need attention. There’s a dent in the bow, illustrated, and some cracks around the transom where the outboard was fitted. The stern tube for the inboard engine is still in place and I recommend returning to inboard power. I don’t know if the propeller is still there but there’s a weed hatch, illustrated. The hull does not leak but the cabin does. The Boat is currently sitting on the River in Northwich, Cheshire, (not in London). If you keep her on the canal you must do the following-1) Get a Boat Safety Certificate. There is a list of examiners on the CRT website. I recommend doing this before fitting a gas or electric system or installing a stove. At the moment there’s nothing that the examiner can fail.2) Get insurance. The Basic Boat Liability Co will give 3rd party cover without a survey.3) Get a boat Licence from CRT. You’ll need the above for that. I will assist you to get it to the nearby boat yard if you wish to have her taken out of the water, or do repairs, electricy is available.Payment must be made IN FULL within 2 hrs of auction ending otherwise it will be relisted. Thank you.
