Traditional Narrow boat
BEAM: 6ft 10”
(Interior cabin space: 24ft 6”)
Stumpy is a traditional ‘Butty Style” and very well built.
She was lengthened whilst in previous ownership and now benefits from a professional ‘swim” at the stern. At this stage all new engine beds installed and stern gear elements into the structure.
At the same time she was overplated on the bottom of the old hull with brand new 6mm steel. So this is now effectively 10-12mm.
BASICALLY THIS IS EQUIVALENT TO A BRAND NEW STEEL BOAT WITH ABSOULUTELY NO PITTING OR RUST TO ANY OF THE OUTER PLATE.
Since buying the boat I have gutted the interior and spent my money and time on fitting the boat out to a very basic but solid finish. All the internal frames and metal work were treated, insulation at least 50mm celotex has been installed and the whole interior and covered in marine ply.
An 18mm marine ply floor, fully primed and coated underneath, has been installed which sits on treated wooden battens which are drilled into the steel floor bearers.
This is the perfect finish for you to complete the fit out to a more traditional styling if required without having to drill into the main superstructure. All the hard work has been done!
I have created one small shower/toilet compartment and a galley, and a bed. These can easily be removed without affecting the internal ply fit or insulation fit out. So you can make exactly the plan for the interior that suits your needs.
At the bow of the boat I have refitted the huge water tank, stainless steel which had been custom made for the boat.
It benefits from a Saab 10hp engine.
(Not fitted, but the boat is sold with the engine, most of the fittings and parts to install it. A complete and quality, professional stern tube installation, shaft and prop with greaser.)
Generally the steelwork has some really nice touches, rear door with drip strips, twin opening bow doors and twin opening cabin side doors. Fully welded rubbing strakes, cabin roof top grab rails, and brackets for boat hooks and deck brooms.
There are also plenty of strongly welded bollards and cleats for mooring warps.
She has an unsinkable weed hatch installed.
There are three 18’’, half opening, portholes and one smaller one. Two houdini hatches are set into two properly welded upstanding frames to the cabin roof. the boat has a double opening catch style door forward, a door with metal hatch at the rear and a double opening door onto a bow platform. These all make for a very nice airy boat in the Summer months.
I have also installed a Puffin wood burner and flue.
This is a great platform from which to build out your own narrowboat or to create a great live aboard space.
