30 ft narrow boat, springer,
live aboard, just had a full 4 year bss.
Hello, thanks for looking a my 30ft springer narrow boat. I’ve owned the boat for 12 years in which time me and my girlfriend lived aboard comfortably and in the later years 2014 onwards just used as a weekend getaway. due to work commitments 6/7 days a week around the country I no longer have time to use it and with much regret I’ve decided to sell.
The boat was built in 1984 and is fitted with a BMC 1.5 diesel engine which was changed around 2012 for a lower hour and better compression engine and serviced every year. These engines are wildly used in narrow boats and all parts are still readily available. The engine is raw water cooled.
The boat benefits from being re-plated just before my ownership and having a hull survey carried out in April 2016 the results are very good. I’m more then happy to e-mail the survey to anyone that’s interested. the boat benefits from the hull being taken back to bare steel and painted with 3 coats of comastic in 2017 (Google it, the best blacking paint by far).
the hull above the waterline is in good condition, a couple of dents but nothing that’s not normal for the age, I rubbed the hull back to bare steel and removed the windows in 2016, after resealing the windows a primed, under coated and top coated the hull with Jonson’s gloss green. a few weeks ago I also flatted off and gave the boat another top coat of the same gloss green.
regards the inside as you can see from the pictures a full refit has been carried out, new insulation with moisture membrane and finished with oak boarding. I’m 5, 9 in height and with my boots on I can stand up no problem. new 12v and 240 v wiring, 12 v led lights, pluming, 10mm copper gas pipe. the fridge is a 3-way, gas, 240v or 12v. fully fitted wet room with pvc cladding, sink, shower and toilet which is big 4ft x 3 ft considering its a 30 ft boat. fitted with 240 volt sockets for shore line power and a 500 watt inverter powered by x 2 110 Ah leisure batteries. hot water for the kitchen sink and shower via a morco gas boiler. the water tank is located at the front of the boat, I haven’t worked out the maximum holding capacity. But its the same width as the boat about 2 ft tall and 4 ft long. a very big tank ideal for living aboard. the tank is hard plastic so no need to paint the inside every couple of years. the multi burning stove is easy to regulate and keeps you more then warm in winter. just fitted a new double memory foam mattress and comes with new pillows and duvet.
After living aboard for some years and been on other narrow boats I’ve realised the bigger the boat doesn’t really mean more room, i know that sounds strange but I do think this is true, this boat is 30ft but when inside it feels roomy, but please come and see for yourself.
I finished the refit about 3 weeks ago and have just put a 4 year boat safety certificate (bss) on it.
