The best fridge i had was a 240V slimline chest freezer that runs of the the inverter when your moving along just put it on for an hour or so till the beers frosty at the bottom, (see text later about the fridge, cooker and appliances of the inverter/generator ) power: gas,12 volt, and 240v off inverter and generator.Additional systems: whirlpool washing machine. Insulation used: roof line has original insulation 25mm, the lower part of the boat has original insulation 50mm with the addition of 50mm closed cell kingspan nearly the full length of the boat, This is fantastic in winter as you don’t end up with it too hot except your feet that were rather chilly before the addition of the extra insulation. This also has the benefit of providing channels throughout the boat for hiding cables and pipes. Also for added insulation the inside of the windows have easily removable sliding shutters that can hold bubble wrap in place and makes the sauna work even in winter, also very efficient and cheap to heat. The sauna… the stove in the main room is is installed in such a way that it can be used as a sauna. It is very robustly installed, using layers of metal and concrete, with the addition of a flat metal plate on top, that the removable metal basket to hold the sauna stones sits. If you load it right up to have a sauna, it can glow cherry red, this is fine. You cannot do this on a normal boat stove. When using it as a standard stove, just a small fire burns very efficiently. Its a box wood stove, so will burn just about anything and as its large you can just “light a fire on top of a fire” ,( it doesnt need the ash cleaning out all the time). Included in the sale is a new box of sauna stones , a sauna bucket and ladel, sauna temperature and humidity dial. I will also show you on a map the best place to go for a sauna, as the water runs crystal clear off the hills and it just looks like one big lily pond, so you can jump straight in and have a swim ,once you feel your hot enough… Bathroom… the bathroom has a full size bath with shower and fixed wooden clothes drying rack above it, , some storage and a washing machine in a cupboard. new taps and shower head, a new portable toilet and new lino. Bedroom.. the bedroom has a king size bed with storage underneath and a small stove, the small stove very nice but old and warm it works but could do with replacing /restoring , so included in the sale is a new stove that requires fitting. I may fit this if i have time. Cruiser stern … this boat is a cruiser stern with the added benefit of a detachable aluminium rain cover, above the deck Two gas lockers and a 3.5 electric start generator that is hidden underneath the seating at the rear. The main door is quite something as it incorporates a vintage speaker box that has been re-coned with a 12″ Peavey, in addition to that it has mid range and horn tweeters, this door swings open so you have music while cruseing along , the stereo is reachable from the driving position, The wiring is easily accessible to re- install a large car amp for the bass speaker ,but as it is, it sounds really good. I originally made the entrance door wider so i could get a proper sofa and a bath in. the door also incorporates a heavy duty sliding bolt so you can lock yourself in securely. Also when leaving the boat unattended there is a heavy duty locking metal bar that can be slid into position acrossthe main door ,secured by two padlocks, and the engine controls have a security cover. Also included in the sale is the ships bell, it is brass and has the name of the boat engraved on it , it is mounted on the door. Type of wood used: just before I got the boat it had been professionally re fitted inside, in a light wood, but the boat has had many refits over the years, as I moved things around to accommodate a bath and a proper bed I found all sorts of dazzling colours. Now, there is quite a selection of different wood throughout the boat. Mostly professionally fitted light wood. . Although in the last three months one of the many jobs I have done was to wash the walls, its been a long three months!!! See text later about recently completed maintenance and odd jobs completed.Window type: aluminium top opening , and one port holeExterior doors: front storage hatch – wood, side hatch -steel, back door – wood / steelSide hatch: yesFront and back covers: front cover is lockable storage, back cover is a light weight aluminium rain cover that has a solar panel on , which charges the leisure battery. The rain cover easily removed with 8 bolts. History of vesselBoat Safety Certificate: until June 2024Further maintenance: Engine serviced April 2020. Hull blacked and 4 new anodes september 2020.Stern gland re-packed september 2020.Additional information: Harry Curtis was commissioned by a boat hire company and launched in 1978, it was built by Coles Morton The bottom was re-plated 2009, refit 2009 and then evolved into the ultimate continuous cruiser by me2009 – 2020.Included in the sale is a booklet containing photos from all the different owners, from its start as a hire boat in the 1978, to been a hippy boat, and then to an expensive re fit by two people who where in the London Philharmonic Orchestra! – they put the new engine in. I met them down south somewhere, very excitedly shouting “harry, harry Curtis”, then I had a bottle of wine with them and they told me some stories about the boat..There is a collapsible, 20 foot , easily erected steel mast, originally used for a wind turbine battery charger, which was very noisy and inefficient so was removed. It is now used to mount the TV aerial, and would be good to put bunting up! If you have made it this far, and you are looking for a boat to live on, all year round, even if this boat isn’t for you and you’re looking for something different, take note … normal sized dinner plates don’t fit in small boat sinks, fitting a bath with enough room to stand up in requires ingenuity, getting a washing machine ,inverter, and alternator combination that works takes time, extra insulation stops your feet getting cold, an engine with a an alternator spun from a large exposed fly-wheel will charge your battery at tick over, its good to have a massive noise muffler on the exhaust as you stand right next to it. A solid hull and a reliable engine go without saying, but, most important of all, a huge water tank.. there are huge swathes of beautiful countryside, and the only thing that will make you leave is running out of water! If you do buy this boat I will be happy to walk you through the boat, and show you where filters and fuses are located, advice on running the systems, fuse and filter advice. Also maintenance advice and special / useful tools you will need to service the engine and save a fortune.. its easy with a few pointers. Or you can just take the keys and have fun. Paying for the boat will be by bank transfer only. I will show you the boat licences and mooring history with canal and river trust, and the bank transfer will be to the name held for the registration of the boat with CRT , for the last 11 years. For the last two years the boat has been on a permanent, on line CRT mooring in Woodlesford, that is where you will be buying the boat from. I will give you the keys on completion of the bank transfer and CRT online paperwork. Any queries, or to arrange a viewing – call me, Nicky, 07737761984 The mooring does not come with the boat and would have to be arranged with CRT , if you wanted to stay there a while. The boat has just passed the boat safety certificate BSS. It expires in June 2024The boat currently has a canal and river license, this licence is not transferable and you will have to arrange your own.The boat was over plated just before I got it, in 2009, I do not have receipts for this, but the over plating can be seen. thanks Nicky 07737 761984On 17-Oct-20 at 11:02:36 BST, seller added the following information:
