?NO MOORING IN THE SALE OF THIS VESSEL

After selling my original boat from 6 years on the water, I decided that open plan narrowboats look great in photos, but I bought this second boat for the unbeatable fitted storage solutions whist maintaining a good layout. The effectiveness of the heating system and the unusually thick hull side plate (7-8mm) which should mean this boat is unlikely to ever need re-plating from any corrosion are other reasons I chose this boat. I planned to live here for many years but the only reason to leave now is a growing family. This boat is too gorgeous to refit again for my changing needs. I hope she goes to the right person as is!Original build year 1988, seems to be raising questions for inexperienced boaters despite steel quality being better then than the 2000s. Many insurers ask for a full survey after a boat passes 30 years. This is available as above. One long ownership plus myself and another for 2 years prior. Sitting quietly in Birmingham for many years. Believed to be built by the Stone Boat Building Company, no longer trading. No overplating on the hull and thus no hidden corrosion or bad plating jobs. Side plate spec is unusually thick with all readings coming up around 7mm with the lowest reading being 6.2mm, thicker than a brand new narrowboat as they are mostly built with 6mm steel at the sides/waterline. No internal rusting at all thanks to trad stern engine room. All internal bilges dry too. Some chine extension carried out this month to protect the side and bottom plate where the weld meets the two plates.?Heating system -Danish Refleks 61MS diesel stove – much cleaner and more convenient than any wood/coal burner. You will never be cold on this vessel! Professionally installed with radiators throughout x 3 and hot water calorifier. Just light with a tiny block of fire lighter, turn the tap on and thats it until you turn it off again. I will miss this and am tempted to take it with me 😉 – No electricity or pumps required, plus you get the dry stove flue heat like any other multi fuel stove rather than Webasto diesel heaters that just heat radiators, take battery power, sound like a jet engine and often fail. Look it up!Heat directly from stove flue and eco fan for living room3 x radiators throughout boat inc bedroomRefleks stove heats hot water in winter via a calorifier instead of the Paloma instant gas water heater, so two options there.Engine -Perkins D3 / A3.152 3 cylinder 45hpRecent double oil flush, new filters, new coolant, summer 2020All new hoses 2019-2020No glow plugs required (direct injection) never failed to start first time every time in 2 secondsCruised from Birmingham, to Oxford, Reading, across to Bristol, back to Reading, and London trouble freeSkin tank closed cooling systemFull head height engine room for good tool storage and access to a dry engine for maintenance and servicingBatteries/power -12v system + 240v via inverter or shore power hookup?6 x 2v forklift traction batteries wired in series as one large 560amp ah 12v. Extreme deep cycle, heavy thick lead plates, can be topped up with water. Likely to never need replacing for 10 years with the current set up/power audit. Fully accessible and protected from the elements in the engine room.1 x starter battery. Only needs a second or two to start this engine (direct injection) so will likely never need replacing1000w pure sine wave inverter. Cheaper but much quieter and fault free compared to my rip off broken loud Sterling one!Solar -Textured fibreglass solar panel, 250W semi-flexible solar panel (made in Austria)30amp MPPT regulator for the above240v throughout, RCD box, fuse trip system etc all fitted professionally at time of build.Sterling Pro Reg BW smart regulator for fast boost charging to batteries from engine/alternator – I’ve relied on this charging system on boats since 2011. Very efficient! Prior to the now standard 10mm as steel was becomes lighter in carbon content, this was the norm, with hire boats going for 6mm to save costs and Springer boats as low as 3-4mm all over.

There is no recommendation for any base plate work 32 years into its lifeSides 7 & 8mm – unusually thick and therefore unlikely to ever need plating at the water line. This is where most boats need costly repairs to ensure longevity and fully comprehensive cover – all ultra sonic thickness readings are above the common starting spec for the majority of quality narrowboat builds which is usually 5-6mm. Insurers begin to request welding, plating repairs etc if steel boats get to 4mm and below from pitting and corrosion. 32 years on and this is not going to happen despite the usual pitting that eventually occurs with all mild steel boats.

This boat is priced to sell on the basis of the survey carried out on 14th December 2020. All practical recommendations were completed at full cost to the seller plus the dock and survey fee, affectively saving a buyer £2500. Standard practice is for a buyer to cover the cost of a survey, dock fee and possibly negotiate re-blacking and recommended repairs with the asking price. These are all completed at cost to myself due to the complications of the pandemic and the time of year for buyers (especially first time boaters) to find dock and survey options easily. Any further works to be carried out would be by personal choice of the new owner and part of the ongoing maintenance cost of a boat (new or old) and are not therefore part of any price negotiation.

Offers accepted very near to asking price only.
