The listing is for a Four
week ‘Red’ share in the narrowboat Solace. On purchase of this share you join
the other owners in the syndicate. Collectively the owners own the boat.
A four week share is
one twelfth of the boat. The 4 week share entitles the owner to a 2 week
summer choice, 1 week spring or autumn and 1 week winter.
There is a structured
and fair boat usage system in place. Each owner picks their weeks by way of a
list that rotates each year. This share
would give you a week commencing 20th February 2021 from the
2020/2021 allocation.
Selection of holiday
dates for the 2021 – 2022 season began in September when the full 4 week
selection starts. The summer weeks for 2021 are weeks commencing 19th
June and 26th June, the 2 remaining weeks are still to be chosen
which could give you the chance to choose your own weeks.
If an owner cannot
use their weeks they are offered to the other owners on a first come first
served basis at no extra cost other than diesel and pumpout.
Each owner pays a sum
towards maintenance and essential outgoings, ie moorings, insurance, management
costs etc. which includes a 24 hour/365 days a year support service. The sum is
according to the number of shares owned. A four week share would require a
monthly payment of £175 – £180 which equates to £525 per share week or £2100
per annum. Three quarters of this has already been paid.

in 2013, Solace is in very good condition. It has a front bedroom layout with a
rear saloon, central galley and bathroom. Designed to accommodate up to six
people. One fixed full sized 4foot 6 inch double bed, another double bed in the
dinette area plus another double or two single beds by converting the settee in
the lounge.
Central heating and a
multi fuel stove. Fully equipped galley with domestic sized gas oven, separate
4 burner gas hob. Full sized fridge, small freezer. microwave and dishwasher.
Washing machine/tumble dryer also on board. Plentiful storage.
The only items not
included in the costs are the fuel you personally use whilst out on the boat,
pump outs and cleaning at the end of your holiday. This year there are specific
cleaning procedures in practice. There are no other overheads to pay.
