Hartshill no 4 70ft is an 1884 wrought iron joey boat, gauged at Tipton for Hingley and Smith. She has a wooden cabin top which needs attention. The ply on the blue side has delamination and the other side is ply clad with aluminium which does protect her.She was last blacked in February 2022 and had 6 new anodes. She has leaded stained windows at the bow and you then enter into the living area, there is a Morso squirrel stove, with teak tongue and groove and enough room for a full size sofa. The floor in the kitchen needs replacing. The bathroom has a cassette toilet, basin and shower over a 4 ft enameled bath. There is a fixed double berth with cupboards and then another single berth behind with cupboards. The engine room is spacious and her heart is a Ruston Hornsby 2VSH, originally from a crane in 1951, there is a hydraulic drive. The back cabin is scumbled and finished traditionally with a side bed or a pull out double along with an Epping stove to keep the chill off when cruising.Hartshill has been a wonderful home to us but we haven’t got the time or skill to do the woodwork required! With 5 berths and 3 bedrooms she is a wonderful family home.
