King of Hearts info
This Alice in Wonderland
themed narrowboat, “The King of Hearts” is now on the market. This quirky
vessel packs a great deal into its 30ft length.
Normal entrance is through
the front double doors which lead into a spacious galley area containing a
Flavel 2 burner grill and oven cooker (hardly used), stainless steel sink and
drainer, gas water heater and cupboard space below worktop (and draws). In the opposite corner is a bespoke multi-fuel
stove (Aarow based).
Moving a front, is an
ingenious seat for 2 and a table, which when removed uncovers a small hip bath
and shower. Twin discreet courtesy
curtains separate this now bathroom section from the rest of the boat. Moving further astern is a great sized area for
a fixed double bed area, which has a fully sprung mattress (single mattress at
present). Secreted below this bed is the refurbished 1.5 ltr BMC diesel engine
(starts first time and every time). The
comfortable bed is the perfect place to recline and to watch the wall mounted
flat screen TV, or listen to the quality built in CD/DVD player, with built in
speakers located in the walls.
She has a traditional style
helm, with an Alice in Wonderland alarm clock style throttle control. External features include Mad Hatter’s “top
hat” chimney cowl, hart shaped door handles, and twin “froggy” spot lamps atop
the front of the coach roof. In fact,
there are little reminders of Alice and the King of Hearts at every turn.
All windows, apart from
portholes, are double glazed with internal blinds. A report on the hull, shows it to be of above
average thickness with all sacrificial anodes in good condition as are the stainless-steel
propeller shaft and stern gear. She comes with a Boat Safety certificate until

originally purchased the King of Hearts to stay on whilst
in Sheffield. I then ended up living with
my girlfriend soon after I purchased the boat, and thus she has had little use!
The King of Hearts deserves to be in the hands of someone who will use
King of Hearts was purchased from Oxford and I then I got her transported on a hiab
lorry to Sheffield. Thus, if you are not
local or need a boat (somewhere to live in a hurry) I can potentially advice and
assist on this, in terms of how to get it transported. Alternatively,
moorings maybe available at Sheffield in the Marina which is located close to
the City Centre.
am honest, with 100% feedback on eBay from 2004.
Most people do not list any negatives (they hide them) when selling something,
but as I want to be transparent, especially if someone is traveling miles to view
her, the only negatives are: the rear doors work and close – but they would
benefit from new hinges. One of the built-in
blinds in the window, is not lifting the blind up fully. One of the kitchen taps needs a washer changed
or the tap replacing. The rear fender
needs attaching. Some of the paint work
inside and outside could do with freshening up.
These are little things which someone with time and basic DIY skills can
do. Dependent how long this boat is advertised
for, I may get them complete. I just
wanted to be open and honest.
am willing to show any one around the King of Hearts and you can inspect the boat
and engine. I will consider serious offers for a quick sale or swop.
