Are you looking for a newly lined boat, where all the hard work has been done, ready for you to finish to your taste?
Here we have a truly unique craft. This is the only one in the world. Designed by me, Jo, after 10 years of research and built by The Little Boat Co, utilising a modified version of the builder’s patented outboard stern design, this vessel is the ultimate go-anywhere small live-aboard. She has been designed to travel anywhere on the canal system.
Due to the complicated nature of the vessel, I have ran out of time to finish her and I’m looking for an enthusiastic person who can take up the reigns to complete this fine vessel. The majority of the vessel is completed: all the steelwork, bulkheads, lining, insulation and the majority of the plumbing and wiring is complete. The windows are all custom made, at great expense. The vessel will shortly be moving to Gunthorpe, Nottinghamshire.
Specification
She is 799cm long, just 1cm short of the cut-off point for increased license cost. Approx. 26ft 3in. Now, that may sound a bit small for a live-aboard but nearly all of that length is used; 21ft of the 26ft is useable living space, comparable to that of a 35ft cruiser stern narrowboat. A double swept bow and long stern swim provide a very hydrodynamic profile, allowing her to cut through the water more efficiently than a regular narrowboat. The steel is 8mm for the base plate, 6mm for the hull sides, bow, stern and deck and 3mm for the cabin, wheelhouse and stern fantail. The steel has been protected and the hull has been blacked. She has been ballasted, though some fine-tuning may be required. For this, areas of the hull are accessible via hatch to add ballast as required. A 190 litre (approx) water tank is fitted under the wheelhouse (this differs from the planned layout but allows for greater flexibility of fit out). The insulation has been installed (recycled ceramic Isowool, as per the builder’s recommendation). She has also been lined in sheet wood. The shower wet-room has been fitted, along with a sink. The kitchen has been fitted with cabinets and a sink. The outboard would be well hidden and is where a rudder would be if the vessel was inboard powered, so having one does not affect the classical lines of the vessel. It also means the engine is readily changeable and the minimum space is used. Of course, the new owner can finish the vessel to their own taste in interior but the layout below is what she was designed for. A V birth forward and a dinette can be fitted in. So, depending on the fit out, this could be a single or couple’s live-aboard or a family week-away boat.
Also, I have available a pair of brand new brass Khalenberg S-0 air horns that I can include if the asking price is met. Much more impressive than the standard narrowboat horn and are sold in the United States for around $500 each.
What Is Needed For Completion
Air Vents (To be installed on the roof where the new owner requires)
Exterior paintwork (the hull has been blacked and the steelwork protected and primed)
Heating system (if required)
Outboard engine and controls (9.9HP will be adequate for canals but if you’re taking it on rivers, 20HP will serve better)
Some interior work (interior furniture and appliances (if required) and doors on the cabinets in the kitchen)
Water pumps and pipework (for supplying the sinks and waste water removal from the shower – this will include waste pipes through the hull)
Lights (but the electrical wiring for them is in place)
Batteries and Power Management System
Toilet (a composting toilet was planned)
The above work, if carried out, will need a Boat Safety Scheme certificate before the vessel is allowed on Navigable Waterways.
Asking price: £60,000 including delivery to any part of England/Wales
