Apothecary is a 45ft narrowboat built by Dave Clarke in 2000 and situated on a lovely mooring on the Thames in Kingston adjacent to Canbury gardens.
Entering the boat from the spacious cruiser stern you come to the bathroom which has sink, shower and thetford cassette toilet, all functioning, although the bathroom does need re-cladding and reflooring and is the area of the interior that needs the most work.
The rest of the interior would benefit from some some smartening up, mainly cosmetic.
From the bathroom you enter the bedroom with a spacious double bed that has room for plenty of storage underneath, plus led lighting and traditional porthole windows.
After the bedroom comes the living/dining area with an L-shaped unit containing a thetford oven hob and grill, a sink plenty of storage and ample surface space to prepare meals.
The living area has a morso stove converted to run on diesel (no chopping wood in the middle of winter!) and new flooring extending to the bedroom, once cleared the rest of the space will be open and ready for the new owner to adapt as required.
Exiting at the prow there is a small deck with the diesel tank for the burner, a gas locker with space for two cylinders and a very large water tank (1000+ liters) that has recently been re-lined inside.
The boat has two leisure batteries supported by a solar panel that should cover your electricity needs through all but the darkest winter months.
The boat needs a new engine as the current vetus, is out of action and beyond repair, we have been quoted £4/4.5k to get it replaced with a lister engine or £6k for a like for like vetus, by Ascot Disel Marine Engineering.
The mooring is a midstream mooring and requires a dinghy or tender to reach, being midstream provides the mooring with the security of a marina while having a lovely view of the river and park outside your window.
The mooring is ideally placed,15 mins walking from the town center and station, from which you can get into central London within half an hour. Upstream on the Thames you are a short cruise from Hampton court and the tranquility of the upper Thames while going downstream you are a few hours from the London canal network with all the sights of the big city and the thriving boating community there.
The mooring is modestly priced at £183 per month and comes with an off road parking space.
