Contemporary Design 57′ Colecraft Traditional-Stern Narrowboat
A reduced price for a quick sale. I am selling my home as I need to move for work. The hull was built by Colecraft in 2009 and was then fitted out over another two years. The boat is modern in design and is bright, airy and clean.
The steelwork is a 10mm baseplate, 6mm sides and a 4mm cabin. All of it was sandblasted prior to painting and consequently the boat remains basically rust free. The hull is two-pack epoxy coated. The bilges are also blacked and have always been bone dry.
Mechanically, the boat has never been cruising and so the engine and gearbox only have test hours on them. They have been started periodically and had the filters changed to ensure good running. The fuel tanks are very clean and completely free of water.
Inside, the boat has been built to an unusually high specification, with a solid oak floor (16mm on top of ply), solid pine tongue and groove walls (16mm) and thick european oak trim (mostly 50x25mm). The kitchen worktop is 40mm solid bamboo and the front doors 35mm Sapele. Almost no MDF has been used in the build and nothing has been nail-gunned together. The doors, windows and skylights are all double glazed; the windows are of the fully opening, hinged variety.

In all, this is a very tidy boat. Look at the underside of a shelf or the back of a cupboard and see the same high-grade finish as everywhere else. Everything is higher spec than it might be. For example, the blinds are custom made Luxaflex, the radiators are designer aluminium, and the double bed raises of pneumatic struts to reveal storage space. If something can be hidden, it has been. There is no large foot-level step, often used to contain central heating pipes, nor a head-level one where many boats locate their wiring. Because of such care, the boat feels very spacious and has lots of headroom.
The boat has a full 2018 Thames license and a brand new Boat Safety Certificate valid until April 2022.
