River Otter is an unique, Dutch Barge style, 62ft narrowboat perfect for living aboard or for extended cruising. River otter is a 2002 Dave Clarke one-of-a-kind hull. The last survey (2016), shows her to be in extremely good condition (max of 0.3mm isolated pits). She was blacked in 2017 and has been fastidiously restored to a very good condition.She has a master bedroom with two fixed berths, with extensive storage space in cupboards, drawers and a large wardrobe. The bathroom has a thermostatic shower and a Tecma macerator toilet, as well as a sink, more storage space and a cupboard containing a medium sized hot water tank. The lounge sports an Aarrow multi-fuel burning stove, with a backboiler, which keeps the boat extremely comfortable throughout the colder months. The galley is fit out entirely with bespoke cuboards drawers and worktops – there are pictures online of River Otter’s kitchen which have been earmarked as fine examples of a kitchen fitout. Within the kitchen, there is a hob with four burners (new in 2017), a Lec 12v fridge (new in 2017), a Midi Prima oven & grill and a really lovely Belfast sink. The Wheelhouse is replete with useful instruments and ample room for storage, if needed. It provides a lovely, sheltered view whilst driving – however, River Otter is also steerable by tiller should the mood take you. The engine room, in the rear, houses a Perkins D3 in very good condition, a real solid runner which should be good for thousands more hours. The steering is from a wheel and is hydraulic. There are bowthrusters (electric), in good working condition which give enormous thrust and allow you to maneuver a large boat in small gaps. There is also a large front hold, where I currently store logs for the winter and a few tools, but you could use it for a lot of things. There is a built-in coal chute, which I have never seen on another narrowboat.I’m very reluctant to sell River Otter, but I recently split with my partner and I’m now moving aboard a smaller boat as I no longer require a boat this big, and a smaller one will be easier for me to cruise alone.Please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions you may have.
