The Dread Pirate Roberts!

Recently reduced as I’m hoping for a sale before the winter. This has been reflected in the price reduction 🙂

Please read full description for all info and feel free to get in touch if you would like to view the boat.

Once viewed and if sale confirmed, then payment can be made by bank transfer and all change of ownership forms, transfer of licence/insurance and hand over of documentation can be completed.

I have been completely upfront with everything in my listing and have tried to comprehensively list all works done and works to be completed.

Please feel free to get in touch if you would like to discuss anything or ask any more detailed questions.

This is a great, mostly completed project boat that would suit a person or people that are happy to tinker with the remaining jobs. The boat can be lived on while the works are completed and is ready to travel immediately, I have only recently moved off the boat after a change in circumstances.

The boat does not come with the mooring but if the buyer needs time to organise travel, moorings or licences etc I can hold the boat on the moorings for 1-2 weeks until they are ready to collect.

The Dread Pirate Roberts. An absolutely brilliant vintage boat, steel hull wooden top, currently in the water and ready to sail away. I’ve owned and lived on it for 9 years after buying it as a project and have spent many a happy day working and playing on it during that time. Now, due to bereavement and unforeseen circumstances I no longer have the time or money to complete the works and am very sad to be forced into putting it on the market. Very frustrating because it’s so close to being finished!

Specifications

Steel Hull built by Samson boats in 1970Has a current hull survey completed in 2015 and the hull has been checked by dry dock engineers every 2 years since. The last being  in August 2023 upon dry docking for hull reblack. The boat has been taken out of the water and blacked every 2 years since 2015.Front and back Sacrificial anodes have plenty left on them but added 4 brand new anodes mid hull in addition to the existing ones in August 2023 to ensure maintenance of hull health. Has Current BSS which expires 03/2025 but will have no issues getting a new one as I completed all necessary work upon the BSS in 2017. BSS in 2021 only required new fire extinguishers and fire blanket for the kitchen.Large bedroom with hanging wardrobe, ample shelf storage and Queen size bed complete with large under bed storage with heater to avoid mould4 seat living area with custom table and full size single bed by dropping the tableKitchen area with full size sink, cooker and half size fridgeCupboards and storage everywhere! Gravity diesel fed BMC motor which is very reliable and purrs like a kitten2 75L+ diesel fuel tanksHuge water tankSmall Inverter suitable for device charging

Since owning it. I have installed:

Brand new Webasto diesel heater and 2 radiatorsNew water pumpAll new gas linesNew gas cooker with 4 hob ringsNew 240 volt fridge New bilge pump with float switchWelding work on tiller base and rudder to improve steeringLovely propeller and propeller shaft with easy grease systemNew seals and blacking on weed hatch3 x brand new leisure batteries and starter battery which have been maintained with a maintenance charger240 plug sockets and hook up portCompletely new external boarding down one side and installation of kingspan insulation, there was minor rot in the internal frame when the old boards were removed. These pieces have been replaced with brand new wood and all surrounding wood has been treated with 3 x bug and rot preventative treatments. The new boards were brand new treated OSB 3 board. Each board had a waterproof and weather resistant edge treatment on all raw cut edges and then 3 coats of yacht varnish inside and out. The exterior was then coated in 2 coats of waterproof and weather proof fibre paint. The boat just requires the other side re boarding and re insulating, it currently has insulation, and boards which are damaged, but could get through another winter if the boards were sufficiently protected. New exterior seals on windows down the reboarded sides. Interior seals will need doing at some point but the windows do not leak. New calorifier (this sprung a leak in one of the seams last year so will need soldering by someone with the know how as I haven’t had a chance to complete this, currently the heating system works fine but the taps in the kitchen and bathroom cannot be used until the leak is fixed) New gravity feed fuel lines to the engine and Webasto heating system Converted 2 single beds to Queen size bed which can also be turned into sofaDouble small bottle gas locker, this has a small hole which needs repair with either welding or fibre glass in order to be used but the gas bottle is currently stood on and chained to the front deck which complies with BSS as it is secure and cannot fall over.

You can see from the photos where there have been some leaks in the time that I have owned the boat but nothing is leaking currently. I would say that the exterior boards down the unfinished side would be a priority job to be replaced or covered for the new owners to prevent any leaks developing.

This boat just needs some TLC, a few new interior panels (particularly in the engine room and bathroom area) and a good lick of paint, as you can see I only managed to get half way through decorating the interior!

I’ve had fully comp insurance since owning him and, can pass on these details.

He has also been fully licensed with no gaps with the CRT.

Does not come with mooring.

Please feel free to get in Touch or to come and view the boat. Sensible offers will be considered.

Current Price: £12499.00
