Emails are always the best way to contact me, initially through Ebay please. Cell reception is so poor where I live I seldom carry my phone. Please note that I’m
only willing to discuss anything to do with the price after you have viewed the boat. I am available most days or evenings mon to saturday or late on sundays for viewing. Its now outside at the back of a large clean arable farm yard in the PE6 postcode area. The farmer requires I escort prospective buyers on site as he doesn’t want strangers to arrive unannounced. He is however quite happy to talk to buyers about it remaining while work is done, subject to a couple of simple checks being made. Alternatively, I
had to move it a few miles recently. A half day hire of a HGV & trailer plus a crane to lift it cost me £620 cash.I have nearly everything needed to complete the fit out and am in the process of clearing it out as I had loaded it with quite a lot of the spare materials I have when I moved
it last month. These need moving out before I can take any more pictures. I have a
breathing issue which slows me down & that is also why I am trying to
sell the boat. Locks are now virtually impossible for me to manage
on my own & I always intended to go continuous cruising when I retired. The boat: This is a unfinished project: It is a rounded cruiser stern 55ft long 6ft 11″ wide Narrowboat designed as a liveaboard for me. Hull was completed, moved inside a barn, shot blast & primed by the end of 2004, exterior painted in 2005 and it has never been in the water. It could be lived in quite quickly as the majority of the basic painting, internal panelling, plumbing, electrics, ballast, flooring, windows, bed, lights, Solar panel, tanks etc etc are in place & working. With an open cruiser stern, I intended to have a steering wheel connected to the rudder & a seat to sit on whilst cruising, so this is probably not a boat for someone who wants to live the old traditional semi or trad style canal boat life. (fitting a tiller would be relatively easy though ?) I designed it for me to live in on my own with enough bed space for a very good friend visiting. I wanted a low overall running cost and for it to be comfortable, but clean throughout. It had to be as light & bright as
possible, with plenty of headroom(over 6ft) plenty of windows & 4 roof lights. Almost
completely open plan. except for the small bathroom/toilet which is at the stern end
& a central wardrobe before the bed. The internal panelling is painted in a beige 2 pack acrylic (used on the outside of cars), a hard wearing light/bright finish that wipes
clean. i’ve
had questions about how easy it would be to re-design the interior
layout ? Come & look, anything is doable. The small double (4ft wide) built in bed currently limits the accommodation though. Steel (10-6-3) Cruiser stern hull built in Stilton, exterior professionally shot blasted up to the gunnel & primed with high zinc content industrial primer then painted with twinpack acrylic paint. Serious anti-corrosion protection & cost over £2k, but still good now. It requires blacking being brushed/rollered on, (which I have) before it goes in the water, colour scheme/patterns finishing & some minor touching up. All the steel inside the boat was degreased/cleaned/wire brushed & painted. (very unusual, but intended as more corrosion protection). Internal sides & roof then insulated in spray foam. All panelling is best birch ply, edged with Iroko, a lovely yellowy red finish african hardwood. I have sufficient unused to finish the boat. I believe that the corrosion protection is much better than on most boats and if you want to confirm steel thicknesses, it is accessible as the boat is on a firm gravelled base. The 2.25 tonnes of ballast is cast concrete, covered with 7/8″ Pine plywood with a 10mm air gap between.Flooring is laid in part, hardwood, what’s not laid I have. The 4ft wide bed with a bespoke 6ft 6″ longer mattress is at front/bow end with a built in ply sides/base. It has a large internally/externally painted 4mm thick steel water tank with level gauge under, with insulation on top & then birch ply bed base panels that lift off for access.Said Bed is on the right hand side and you can walk down beside it to Iroko framed hemlock double glazed doors that open out onto a small front deck, covered by a vinyl cover with windows & zip up sides. Under the Iroko decking is a small engine compartment planned for a diesel generator & separate fuel tank. A lLarge bow thruster tube is also fitted in here. Boat bow incorporates a water tank & that is plumbed into the boat.I have the engine setup I intended fitting. 2 litre Industrial VW with a hydraulic pump in place of a gearbox. Engine rev’s set at the quietest/most vibration free/fuel efficient rpm & forward/reverse/speed control is all via adjusting hydraulic pressure. Most industrial/farm machinery now uses such a system because they are quieter, are virtually vibration free & very fuel efficient. Controls can be very simple & such systems tend to be very reliable. Stern tube(the type you grease to waterproof), prop shaft & propeller are in place. Engine & Hydraulic pump will just fit crossways at front end of engine bay so I could climb down inside for maintenance. I have 2 drive motors (one as a spare) & a variety of hydraulic hoses/pipes/fittings/valves that would do most of the installation. Engine & pump are not fitted though bearers are sorted. Bearers need marking up & welding in place. Bespoke hydraulic tank is made but requires painting/fitting & an exhaust is installed. You could however quite easily install a normal Engine/gearbox set up if you wanted to & I would value the hydraulic set up I have at perhaps £700Plumbing pipework in is place, electrics, 12 & 240v in ducting inside insulation. Spare seven core 12v & 3 core 2.5mm 240v cabling linking bow to stern etc. Overhead LED lights in. Fold down table in. Prity woodburner with oven in.I struggle with people who want to know my lowest price or promise me money without seeing the boat. Work on the basis it will cost £25,000 & if we agree a reduction on site after you have looked at it, you will have a bonus. I do want to sell it, but I am retired now & will if need be carry on working on it & get it in the water myself if I don’t get a genuine buyer. I will put more pictures on here as soon as I can.Kind regards Dave
