1960s Souter Penguin dinghy with period British Seagull Forty Plus outboard motor.
The boat is smart, structurally sound and ready to use, not perfect cosmetically but it presents well enough.
It’s 8’ long, so fits in a van easily and it’s light enough to put on a car roof rack and hand launch if you don’t want to muck about with trailers. You can row it if you’re a proper hard oarsman but it’s built to be motored really and the Seagull Forty Plus is just right.
People often think it’s a Fairey Duckling, it’s similar in shape and construction.
The motor starts easily, runs well, pumps water properly and pushes the boat along nicely with four adults aboard. Speed limit in Bristol harbour is 6mph and half throttle is plenty for that.
A few spares come with it – spare outboard prop spring, two-stroke oil, gearbox oil, tins of International paint in the correct colours etc.
Overall it’s a perfect “messing about in boats” boat, or of course you could use it for its original purpose, as a yacht tender.
I’m in Bristol, collection only please.
Feel free to message with any questions,
Thanks for looking,
Ben
