The Boat:A sort after Cygnus 15 foot GRP Oyster Punt. A traditional hull shape for rowing by one, two or three people. Robust construction. Very strong hardwood gunwales. Hardwood thwarts (need re-fixing and finishing). Some fibre-glass work required to ‘stringers’ under stern thwart (see photos). The outside of the hull has been taken back to the gelcoat and one side has been sanded. The inside has had a few applications of ‘Stip-it’ (paint remover for GRP). I replaced the outside of the port side gunwale with new Iroko a few years ago and the starboard side just needed some epoxy repairs. I used to row it 3 or 4 miles with the tide and come back using the 3 h.p. ‘Malta’ engine. Then I got the 4 h.p. engine with the large remote fuel tank for longer trips loaded up with people and gear (4 adults easily, depending on conditions) . The Engines:Both are long-shaft Yamaha 2 stroke. They were both fresh water flushed before being stored for several years. I’ve recently started them up and they do run, but will require servicing before use. They both have their original tool kits and there is a user manual for the 3 h.p. There are some spare consumable parts such as propeller shear pins a new zinc anode. There are two bottles of two-stroke oil and some gear oil.The 3 h.p. ‘Malta’ engine has a small integral fuel tank and is lighter and quite easily handled. It has neutral and forward gears. The 4 h.p. is heavier with a large remote fuel tank (I have fitted new hose and priming bulb). I used to leave this engine locked to the boat (see photo) with the Police cover on (I never got round to marking things with the special marking stuff called ‘selecta dot’). The 4 h.p. has reverse gear and I have begun fitting a remote throttle and gear cable control. (It can quite easily be changed back just by re-attaching the twist throttle cable and removing the cable bracket). I did this as I was mostly alone and I found I wanted my weight forward in the boat and always wished I could select reverse without having to go right back to the engine.Other items include: oars and rowlocks, two anchors with chain, waterproof screw-top cannister, selection of fenders (not pictured), rope, sculling rowlock and fixture removed from transom. Telescopic tiller extension. Remote engine controls. Remote fuel tank. Cover (needs replacing, but better than nothing). The boat is on a launching trolley, so you will need to collect with a road trailer. If you don’t need a road trailer for the boat I suggest hiring a car trailer and using the launching trolley as a cradle with the wheels off. I am happy to assist loading.Viewing welcome. The boat is at TR3 6PW. Please Call Bryan on 07842 891964 to arrange a time.Cash on collection.
