Due to an absolute time waster who won the auction and I never heard from them! After going through ebay ‘resolution centre and waiting 6 days to relist, here we go again! For auction, with NO RESERVE, is my 16ft Falmouth Bass Boat, converted to a two birth cabin.I purchased a perfectly good Bass Boat Hull and have carefully built a strong two birth cabin with foredeck. All ply wood is marine spec, using resin, brass and stainless screws only. The cabin doors hinge back on themselves to save space and the hatch slides on nylon runners, all locking into a closed position with a cabinet type final door lock. The hull is sound and I sailed this as an open Bass Boat before converting. The mast has been altered to hinge in a strong timber tabernacle and can be raised/lowered from the cockpit. The gaffe is made from the old mizzen mast, now redundant due to a longer boom, accomodating an enterprise main sail to give equivelent sail area. Due to the cabin and forestay pulley arrangement, the jib is from a Mirror, total sail area is more than adequate. The trailer is galvanised with a ratchet belt winch, nearly new bearings, wheels and tyres, no rumbles or play and reliable to tow anywhere in the uk after auction.I have made a new laminated centre board made to the original swing design, fitted with a stainless steel hinge pin and resin sealed either side of the centre box. I have also made a new laminated rudder and refurbished the stock and tiller.I have spent many hours on this boat but sadly, a family bereavement halted the finishing touches needed to get sailing in time for summer. I now do not have the time to finish this lovely boat and just want it to go to a good home and be used.It needs another coat of resin over exterior joints, structure is solid but cosmetically there is some slight rainwater ingress. The hull is completely solid and Bass Boats have a good reputation for stability. The swinging keel allows shallow water exploration and the small bilge keels jeep it upright if you dry out on land. I started to scrape the anti foul off as I don’t keep it in the water, but lost the will after a few hours! The original gel coat is good so you could pick up where I left off if you wished. These boats have a cutaway in the transom allowing an outboard to be fitted and retracted during sailing without getting in the way. There is no engine with the boat, however it comes with all rigging and sails needed, anchor with weight chain and plenty of rope, fitted bow line and plunger type bailer with fitted out spout in the hull. The blue enterprise sail could do with a clean to remove old sail number glue but it’s not saggy and no repairs. The jib is a Mirror, tidy and straight, the nylon hanks could do with replacing but they will do meanwhile.Very little tidying up needed to make this boat sailable and great fun for overnight/weekend trips. For the Bass Boat enthusiasts, no structural part of the hull or built in bouyancy has been changed, it would convert back to an open Bass Boat quite readily if that’s what you wanted it for (see last picture, taken before conversion). And for the superstitious sailors, it didn’t have a name when I bought it and I haven’t named it officially, so no jinxes! The trailer alone is worth more than the starting price.I’ve tried to show good, clear, honest pictures. The mast, boom and gaffe all site on top against an A frame at the transom so cabin doors stay closed. It’s all ready to be towed away.Happy to answer any questions or accomodate viewing (Eastbourne).I can meet/deliver within 50 miles of Eastbourne at cost of £1per mile.
