21 FOOT ROBERT TUCKER SAILING BOAT YACHT WITH BRAND NEW
OUTBOARD
Sira is a 21 foot Robert Tucker Ballerina mark 2 sailing
boat. She is a perfect first boat as she
is so easy to sail, and great for estuary exploring as she has a triple bilge
keel so can land on the shore. Her previous owner sailed her to France; he also
sailed her singlehanded. She sails well in high winds. The hull was fibre glassed from new so there
is no wood rot. She was built around
1967.
She is lying in the River Medway, Kent.
Sira is our first boat, and we found her sturdy and easy to
sail, but also a lot of fun to sleep and cook on. However, our family is changing, and we have
now bought a much bigger boat.
Sira had a full strip down and rebuild over the winter:
All top stripped down to bare wood, repaired and epoxy painted
Fibre glassed cockpit seating area
New anti-slip
New Jabsco sea toilet
All new electrics and solar charging
New windows (except 2)
LEFT TO DO –
We put Sira back in the water in May, and ran out of time to
finish her cosmetically – she still needs the following doing:
Wire up mast lights and aft lights
Inside cabin needs painting (we have started)
Cockpit floor and hatch needs painting
2 of the windows are crazed and the Perspex needs replacing
