25ft Van Der Stadt Sailing Yacht. Relisted Due To No-show Bidder

Advertised on December 7, 2020

I have been told that this yacht was built by an aeronautical engineer at an aircraft works near Chester, and that it was first-launched in the 1970s and was raced and cruised from the River Mersey and Holyhead.  It also spent a season or two in Abersoch. From my own research, I have found that it was designed by Van der Stadt, and the design is known as ‘Kwarto’ .  It looks like a larger sister to the Pandora.  A drawing supplied to me by the designer’s office is included among the photos. The boat is constructed of grp with a foam core.  The keel is of cast iron.  The mast, boom and spinnaker pole are of aluminium with stainless steel rigging.  There are four sails.  There is a fitted sea toilet and two anchors and warpsAs you can see from the photos there are four berths all of which have red pvc-covered cushions that are in good condition (they have been stored off the boat in a house). When I acquired it I knew it was a bit of a project.  Time and now health are against me finishing it.The engine was an inboard 2-stroke petrol engine that was direct drive – it didn’t have a gearbox and was a seized rusty mess because rainwater had collected inside the cabin.  So I removed the engine and shaft.  The engine has gone to scrap but I still have the shaft and propeller.  The shaft is too thin to take the torque of a diesel engine, so an inboard engine isn’t an option unless an identical RCA Dolphin direct drive petrol engine was put back.  But I think an outboard engine mounted on the stern would be an easier, safer and cheaper bet.The other main work that is needed is: New cockpit drain sea valves and the toilet inlet sea valve (all seized), new standing rigging (as it is out of date), and as much electrical equipment as you feel like fitting!  Plus the usual pre-season fettling. The boat is in Pwllheli.  The cradle in the photos is rented to me by the boatyard, so it isn’t part of the sale, but the rental could be taken over by the purchaser.  Storage charges will be paid by me up to the date of sale.I’ll consider reasonable offers, or a smaller boat or interesting vehicle in exchange/part exchange, w.h.y.  Subject to ebay terms of course!   Contact me by phone or through ebay in the first instance with any questions or to arrange to inspect the yacht.  Please don’t turn up ‘on spec’ at the boatyard – they are not involved in the sale and they will rightly be annoyed to be pestered.  I’m happy to meet serious enquirers at the boat, I’m also very happy to answer sensible questions….We all like to dream, but please be realistic.  Relisted at the previously agreed selling price, due to a no-show bidder/total time waster.

Current Price: £980.00
